Be a job-creator not a job-seeker: Dr Panjab Singh, vice chancellor, BHU, at Accman Business Schools orientation program

Dr. Panjab Singh, VC, Banaras Hindu University (BHU), advised the new batch of management students (2007-09) to be job creators rather than job seekers at the orientation program July 22 of a new batch at Accman Business School in Greater Noida.

Dr. H P Singh, Deputy Director General, Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR); Mr. Arun Singh, chairman, Accman; and Mr. Amarjit Chopra, member of the governing council of Accman, were also present on the occasion.
In his address to the students, Dr. Singh said, As a management student you should not only look at this opportunity to become a manager in any large corporation, but as one to serve society and to become a good human being In this world today, India is next to none in terms of its capabilities. You need to have confidence in yourself.

Pointing at the large pool of talent in India, he urged budding managers to turn entrepreneurs and be the job creators rather than job seekers. He said, If everyone of you can employ 2-3 people with you, the problem of unemployment will be resolved and the vast talent pool of India will be used constructively.

Laying importance on the quality of education, he said, Quality of education with its social relevance is the key to success for any management education. His final words of wisdom to the students were: Be a good human being before becoming a good manager.

Dr. Panjab Singh, presently the Vice-Chancellor of the prestigious BHU, started his career as an Assistant Professor and rose to the position of Secretary, Department of Agriculture Research and Education (DARE), and Director General, ICAR. He has held many responsible positions such as Director, Indian Grassland and Fodder Research Institute (IGFRI), Jhansi; Vice-Chancellorof PUSA Institute; and Vice-Chancellor, Jawaharlal Nehru Agricultural University, Jabalpur. Dr. Singh also served at the Food and Agricultural Organisation (FAO) of the United Nations in Bangkok, Thailand.

The 3-day orientation program at Accman Business School also played host to Mr. Jaspal Rana, ace shooter, who is the brand ambassador of Accman. He visited the campus on Day-1. The second day was reserved for corporate interaction. Senior managers like Mr. Alok Aggarwal, ED, Polar Group; Mr. Rakesh Seth, VP-HR, Bhilwara Group; and Mr. B Ahluwalia, VP-Marketing, Bhilwara Group -- addressed the students.

Accman Business School was founded by Balibhadra Foundation, a New Delhi-based educational trust. Its management program is accredited by AICTE.
