FMS Delhi orgainsed its annual leadership summit which witnessed distinguished speakers from various backgrounds expressing their views on the theme The Need to Restructure our Educational, Administrative and business systems.
The summit was organized by Team Fiesta of FMS Delhi in New Delhi recently.
Addressing the summit, Dr Raj S Dhankar laid down the foundation for the discussion and talked about how despite reforms the country has slipped in its growth and what is the role of education, administration and businesses in revamping the growth and development in our country.
Other key speakers at the summit included Mr Shounak Bishwas from Aventus Partners, Mr.Rakesh Bhatia from PWC-US, Mr Pranab Mukhopadhyay -Vice President Of Institute Of Public Auditors Of India and Mr Mohan AVK, Global Head HR, Exl Services.
Mr. Mohan AVK spoke on 5 factors plaguing our country namely inefficient governance, bad state of the economy, political system, environmental problems and distractions. Mr. Shounak Biswas, in his address, stressed on improvement in the quality of our education along with his 5 game changer strategies to make the education sector future ready.
Mr Rakesh Bhatia spoke on the need for Indian businesses to go global. Mr. Pranab Mukhopadhyay talked about the absence of synergy among businesses, governments and education which is hampering the development of our country. He also mentioned about successful government schemes like the IRCTC portal, the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyaan etc., the best practices of which could be implemented in the other programmes.
A panel discussion was held during the second session of the event. The panel consisted of Ms. Sheela from Teach for India, Mr. Pankaj Mittal from G4S India, Mr. Praveer Sinha from Tata Power, Mr. Vikas Chaturvedi from Gallup Consulting, Mr Bhim Sain Bassi, Commissioner Delhi Police and Mr. Pankaj Jain, Commission and Secretary Planning, Govt. of Meghalaya. The discussion was moderated by Prof. J K Mitra, Faculty at FMS, Delhi.
While Mr. Pankaj Jain emphasised on the need for a single regulatory body for the education system in India, Ms. Sheela shared insights on the importance of teaching. Giving reference to the education system models in the
US and Shanghai, Ms. Sheela suggested ways such as Empowering schools, giving freedom to schools and encouraging collaboration of Indian schools with foreign counterparts to strengthen the education system.
Mr. Sinha encouraged the young managers in the audience to take this period as an opportunity and not a task at hand. Focussing on the principles of the TATA group he said, If as a country, organisation and company, we work with the right values we can make a change.
Another perspective was added to the discussion by Mr. Bassi who advised the gathering to first assess and then go for a transformation. He emphasised on identifying a methodology to work towards restructuring our systems. Mr. Pankaj Jain spoke on the administrative part of education and gave some eye opening facts about the education system in India today. He went on to say that a restructuring process had already begun with the rise in education trends in India and there is a need for this incremental change to be sustainable. He identified three factors namely access, equity and quality as the main drivers for this change and said adding more schools and teachers is just an input, the actual output are the well educated and enlightened individuals who can take on the world.
Mr. Vikas Chakravarti talked about restructuring the human system as a whole and the need for entrepreneurship in todays environment for creating jobs. He said what we need today is a bottom-up feedback approach to improve our companies.
