CAT 2013 Day 17 Analysis: Difficult Quant, Easier Verbal

CAT 2013 Day 17 first session is over. The difficulty level of Quant section was on a higher side while Verbal section was easy including Logical Reasoning. This article brings you the analysis of the first session of CAT day seventeen.
I got maximum questions from Arithmetic and Geometry. No P&C and only one question on Number System were there. Quant was very tough along with DI.

Today was the seventeenth day of CAT 2013 exam. The first session for Day 17, on Thursday, November 7, 2013 got over this afternoon at 1.00 PM. According to the students, the difficulty level of Quant section was on a higher side while Verbal section was easy.

Puneet Sharma, a test taker from Panipat present at the Noida test centre said, “Verbal was a very easy for me. RC was also easy to understand. Quant was definitely hard for me and a bit time taking.”

One of the test takers in New Delhi, Vinod shared his test experience and said, “I got maximum questions from Arithmetic and Geometry. No P&C and only one question on Number System were there. Quant was very tough along with DI. ”

CAT 2013 Day 17 first Session Sectional Analysis:

Quantitative Ability: Very difficult  
Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from Arithmetic and geometry with 4 questions each. Rests of the questions were from the other known topics such as Functions, number system, Mensuration, Time & Speed & Distance etc. Many questions were mixed with other topics which were confusing for students as it needed to be solved differently.

According to students, P&C was missing from their question sets while Number system had only one question. Most of the questions were calculation intensive.

Data Interpretation: difficult
DI questions were average in difficulty level and questions were based on observation and calculation. Questions were based on Simple interest and bar diagram.

Verbal Ability: Easy
Verbal Ability was termed as easy and below average in difficulty level by many aspirants of first session on Day 17. All the prominent topics like vocabulary, Fill in the blanks, out of context, Sentence correction, etc all had equal representations.

In RC there were total of 10 questions for 3 passages which were descriptive in nature. All the passages were small with direct questions and easy to understand.

Logical Reasoning: Very Easy
The Logical Reasoning questions were easy and had sets on arrangements and sequencing. Questions were analytical. There were around 8-10 questions in LR.
