It is advisable not to imitate others. Your approach may be different from the other one. If you lose your natural self, you may lose the examination.

Entrance test to the most sought after MBA (IB) course offered by IIFT Delhi and IIFT Kolkata is approaching fast. Aspirants are working hard in the last few days to improve the score and get through IIFT 2013 exam. Learn a few important do’s to be followed during the last few days left to this test from Prof S.K. Agarwal, Verbal expert and seasoned trainer in MBA preparation.

1. Practice more on Paper pencil mode
Get a few dummy OMR sheets, practice how to blacken the circle, erase the darkened portion and darken it again and check whether you have torn the sheet, made it clumsy or it is fine and intact with its texture. No cutting is allowed, you will have to erase the previous answer to mark the new one. Check also how much time you spend on it. In our hurry we sometimes either tear the OMR sheet or leave the circle too light to be detected as our answer.  So be careful.

2. Be yourself
It is advisable not to imitate others. Your approach may be different from the other one. If you lose your natural self, you may lose the examination. If you are strong in Verbal practice more questions in this area. Your strong fundamentals will carry you through. If you are strong in Quant and Data interpretation, work more on it – it will help you to increase your speed and accuracy

Go to the examination with an open mind and remain prepared to attempt as many questions as you can with accuracy.  Be open to increase your attempts. You may find some interesting questions that you may solve with ease and will be able to improve your score.

3. Reading Comprehension is core of English
English comprehension section is divided into two parts – the first part will consist of fundamentals, vocabulary, jumbled paragraphs etc. in the core form and the second part will have 4-5 Reading comprehension passages followed by 14-16 questions. RC therefore is a very important area. Out of 120 questions, if you can crack 16 correct, it is definitely a big deal. Try to improve your speed of reading the RC, by practicing it more.

Make summary of the passage, write down difficult words and then try to understand their contextual usage in the sentences and paragraphs of the passage. If you can understand 80% of the passage well, you will be able to answer almost all the questions based on it.

4. General Awareness-key to success
How long can you sit in one go? If you can study for more than 3 hours with concentration, you may be the winner. Although there is no fix syllabus for this section, get some good stuff in concise form which you might have been collecting.  Read it and try to connect it to your memory.  This section doesn’t require any concept building as in Quant, DI or English comprehension, a quick chronological reading of events at this juncture will take you a long way.

5. Quickly practice LR problems
Logical reasoning has more share than Data Interpretation in IIFT. Interestingly, it requires a logical and coherent thought process. The concepts of Family tree, team formation, seating arrangement, followed arguments; statements are not based on such fundamental principles as of other sections. If you can crack the 20 questions in this section, you will be quite near to convert your call.
