XLRI Admission Chairperson Dr Vishwa Ballabh expressed satisfaction with the number of registrations for XAT 2014. While replying to an MBAUniverse.com query he said, However, the number of candidates registered this year is marginally low from last year. Comparing the decline in the number of candidates registered in other similar examinations, it could be inferred that XAT has not been affected by recession.

The registration to XAT 2014 closed on Monday, December 2, 2014. According to Dr Vishwa Ballabh a total of 89400 candidates got themselves registered for XAT 2014 just 3000 less than the XAT 2013 final registration of 92,000.

A total of 1828 students got themselves registered on December 2, 2013, the last date for XAT 2014. Earlier the last date of the registration for XAT 2014 was November 22, 2013 but it was extended to December 2, 2013. The exam will be held on January 5, 2014.

Expressing happiness over such a respectable number of XAT 2014 registrations Dr Vishwa Ballabh said, For this I give all credit to my team and also the agencies which have supported us in campaigning for XAT including MBAUniverse.com.

The seven cities sharing the highest percentage of registration for XAT 2014 are Delhi, Bangalore, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad and Pune.

Taking a giant leap from the XAT 2012 when just 60,316 students registered for the test, a total of 92,000 students had registered for XAT 2013. XAT 2014 also got a decent number of registrations, a little less than XAT 2013. XAT 2010 had witnessed a total number of 1, 02,329 registrations.

In 2013 the Male and Female ratio was 70%: 30% while for XAT 2014 the Female ratio has slightly increased to 30.77%, said Dr Ballabh.

While talking about the key strategies adopted by XLRI to keep the number of XAT 2014 registration high Dr Vishwa Ballabh said, The key strategy was to inform the candidates are properly using electronic media not only about the important dates but also on other issues of importance.

While CAT is the gateway to 13 IIMs and other top B schools for their full time MBA programmes, XAT conducted by XLRI Jamshedpur for admission to its various management programmes is the most sought after MBA admission test after CAT, the scores of which are accepted by most of the top 100 B schools of India. A total of 116 institutes including XLRI, XIMB, LIBA, SP JAIN, TAPMI, XIMR, GIM, XIME, BIMTECH,IMT-Ghaziabad and many others accept theXAT scores.

XAT 2014 will have the same pattern like that of XAT 2013 consisting of two parts to be attempted during three hours duration from 10.30 A.M. to 1.30 P.M.

The XAT 2014 Result will be declared on Friday, January 31, 2014 on the XAT 2014 website. On the basis of the XAT 2014 Result, candidates will be shortlisted by XLRI and other participating institutes for second admission round. After taking part in the Group Discussion and Personal Interview rounds, the selected ones will get the final admission offer.
