Management Programmes Offered:

Interestingly, IIM Ahmedabad does not offer MBA degree but Post Graduate Diploma in Management. The programme is much more appreciated than any University MBA. Post graduate Programme in Agribusiness Management(PGP-ABM)

The objective of the Post-graduate Programme in Agri-business Management is to transform young men and women into competent professional managers for the agriculture, food, agri-business, rural and allied sectors. The programme caters to the needs of enterprises serving these sectors, both domestic and international.

Leadership at IIMA

The team at IIM Ahmedabad is led by the Director Prof. Ashish Nanda, a Gold medalist of IIT Delhi and IIM Ahmedabad. He succeeds Dr Samir Barua. Before being appointed the Director of IIMA  in September 2013, Prof Nanda served Harvard Law School for seven years. As Robert Braucher Professor of Practice, he taught “Professional Services,” “Leadership in Law Firms,” and “Professional Services: Advanced Topics” in the JD program. To further strengthen the leadership at IIMA, appointment of three new deans has been announced by Prof. Nanda namely Dr G Raghuram-Dean for Faculty, Dr Ajay Pandey- Dean for  Programmes  and Dr Arvind Sahay- Dean for Alumni & External Relations.  

On the recommendation of Prof Nanda, Mr. A.M. Naik, Chairman, Board of Governors, IIM A has appointed Prof. Vasant P. Gandhi and Prof. Rekha Jain as Faculty Representatives on the Board of Directors on September 28, 2013.

Faculty

The faculty is the principal driver of change through which B School nurtures and is involved in every aspect of the Institutes. The faculty resource at IIMA sets highest standards of teaching and mentoring with diverse backgrounds as eminent entrepreneurs, policy makers, researchers, theoreticians and consultants. The rich diversity of their backgrounds instills in the students a continuous desire to achieve excellence. 

IIM A has 84 full time faculty and 13 visiting faculty (all with PhDs). In addition, two Associate Professors and four Assistant Professors were also appointed in the Institute. IIM-A started this process of improving faculty–student ratio in January 2013 and continued till September, 2013. These appointments have been made to sustain the competitive advantage of the Institute in the Country
 
Fee and Placements 2014: ROI is high

IIMA has a high fee structure and therefore expenses at IIM Ahmedabad come to around Rs.20 lakhs to complete the 2 years’ PGP.  Simultaneously financial institutions come forward and fund the entire fee and expenses for the students who get admission at this B school. The compensation that a student gets after completion of management programme in the placement season can go as high as Rs.40 lacs per annum, depending upon the candidate’s ability.
