CMAT 2015: Curtains drawn; fourth and final day Analysis: Aspirants face moderate Reasoning and Verbal

Curtains for CMAT 2015 second test were drawn on Feb 22, 2015 after concluding the exam for the 4th consecutive day. CMAT 2015 second test for admission to MBA/PGDM programmes in 2015 began on Feb 19 and concluded on Feb 22, 2015.

The final day of CMAT 2015 second test found a moderate test of reasoning and Language Comprehension. There was no surprise element on the fourth and final day of CMAT 2015 second test. Section of General awareness was more focused on General science, conventional and international GK. CMAT on Feb 22 has been rated moderate with a mix of questions. The exam could be rated as closer to CMAT 2015 first test on first day i.e. Sep 25, 2014. Students should however expect higher merit position with higher scores both sectional as well as overall.

The aspirants who appeared on the fourth and the final day of CMAT 2015 on Feb 22 tried to give their best shot in the exam as the test was slightly easier although questions in English Language Comprehension and Quant sections were of mixed type containing more moderate and a few difficult questions. Data interpretation had more time consuming questions. Nevertheless, despite a few difficult and tricky questions the test was moderate overall and candidates could attempt very well in a range of 55-65 questions.

Language comprehension

The section had questions on correction of errors, fill in the blank types, vocabulary, jumbled sentences and RC passages. 10 questions out of 25 questions were on core English grammar, tenses, use of prepositions, subject verb agreement, use of synonyms and antonyms, fill in the blanks, short but tricky jumbled sentences. The Reading Comprehension passages of 400-500 words were followed by 15-16 questions on them. Passages were not very difficult. Questions on RC passages were based on inference, facts.

Those who had practiced well on different types of questions in English language preparation and had clarity of concept could do well in this section. Out of 25 questions a good attempt of 18-20 questions could be rated as good to find better position in merit.

General Awareness

Experts with MBAUniverse.com had already advised the students to prepare on Indian Polity and international events to score more in this section.

The questions were not difficult but needed a regular brushing up of General Awareness. The section was contributed more by conventional and international GK. Other questions were based on General Science, Constitution of India, Fiscal system of the country like taxation, type of tax, World affairs, sports, and abbreviations.

Candidates who could attempt 20 questions in this section are expected to secure a higher position in merit.

Analytical reasoning

Reasoning problems were slightly more time consuming on the 4th day of CMAT 2015 second test. Questions were based on Circular arrangement, routes, venn diagrams, statement assumptions, conclusions.

The overall section was not difficult although a few questions consumed more time.

Quant and DI

Questions in quant section on the last day of CMAT 2015 second test were also of moderate level. It was a mix of questions based on Algebra, Geometry, PnC, profit and loss, Mensuration, Numbers. A few questions in this section, although not tough but were more time consuming. Questions on Data interpretation were a little lengthy and required more time to solve them.

Those who could attempt 18-20 questions can expect a good position in merit.

CMAT 2015 second test result is expected to be declared on March 25, 2015. AICTE has the reputation of declaring the CMAT result on time, so candidates can expect the result of CMAT 2015 second test to be declared on the pre announced date.
