IIM Visakhapatnam to begin session as scheduled; students to get learning experience from IIM B
Faculty from IIM Bangalore would be delivering courses at IIM Visakhapatnam during the mentorship period and till IIM Visakhapatnams own faculty are recruited.
The waiting period for MBA aspirants seeking admission in IIM Visakhapatnam, the 14th IIM in the country is over as the academic session of maiden first batch of PGP 2015-17 at IIM Visakhapatnam is going to commence from August 2015 with 60 students.
Sharing the valuable inputs with MBAUniverse.com on May 28, 2015 Kavitha Kumar Head of communications at IIM Bangalore, the mentor IIM for IIM Visakhapatnam emphasized We are on track and the modalities to begin academic session at IIMV on time are finalized. The class size for PGP 2015-17 batch at IIMV would be around 60 students and the academic session at IIMV would begin as scheduled in the month of August.
However regarding the shortlisting criteria for final admission round, weightage to other factors in converting the call at IIM Visakhapatnam, appointment of Director and launching of IIMV website, Ms Kavitha Kumar assured that decisions have been taken but details could not be divulged at the material time. Media reports regarding the probability of having smaller class size at IIM Visakhapatnam were also opposed by her on the count that such information was not originated from the mentor IIM Bangalore.
In her view it has only been a matter of arriving at the decision on all the issues concerning the beginning of new IIM Visakhapatnam on time by the mentor IIM Bangalore. Since now everything has been put in place academic session at IIM Visakhapatnam will take off as scheduled
Faculty from IIM B to teach at IIMV
IIM Bangalore will mentor all activities at IIM Visakhapatnam till it moves to its permanent campus or IIM Visakhapatnam is able to handle these activities entirely on its own. Since recruiting full-time faculty is a long process, Kavitha Kumar shares that faculty from IIM Bangalore would be delivering courses at IIM Visakhapatnam during the mentorship period and till IIM Visakhapatnams own faculty are recruited.
It means that the students of IIM Visakhapatnam would be getting the rich learning experience of the top rated IIM Bangalore at IIMV campus. This may include a few visiting faculty selected by IIM Bangalore to meet their exacting standards.
The overall design, quality and delivery of PGP will be to the standards and with direct involvement of IIM Bangalore. Candidates going to join IIM Visakhapatnam should expect to see some of the best faculty members in the country today.
Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Visakhapatnam is the second IIM ( the first being IIM Nagpur) out of the 6 proposed new IIMs whose mentor IIM (IIMB) has declared that the academic session for the first batch of PGP 2015-17 would commence on time in the month of August as the session commencement of other IIMs in 2015 is still under process.
IIM Visakhapatnam would commence operation from the temporary premises allotted to it at Andhra University campus and will continue at the temporary campus till the 300 acre campus of IIM Visakhapatnam gets ready.
