CAT 2015: Secure high score; MDI Gurgaon Admission 2016 announced
CAT 2015 Secure high score to get admission in highly ranked premier B-school in India MDI Gurgaon. MDI Gurgaon announced opening of online admission application process for flagship PGPM/PGP-HRM and PGP-IM 2016-18 batch from August 25, 2015
Top rated B-schools accepting only CAT 2015 score to shortlist candidates for admission in their flagship MBA/PGDM 2016-18 batch have started the application process. One of such management institutes is Management Development Institute (MDI) Gurgaon who is going to start its admission process on August 25, 2015.
MDI Gurgaon, the highly ranked premier B-school in India has announced opening of online admission application process for flagship PGPM/PGP-HRM and PGP-IM 2016-18 batch from August 25, 2015. The application process is proposed to close on November 28, 2015 at 5 PM MDI Gurgaon will accept only the scores of Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 to shortlist candidates for second phase of admission round 2016. The B-school although considers good sectional scores, overall CAT 2015 percentile will be the principal shortlisting criterion for GD/PI round of MDI Gurgaon.
Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015, gateway to PGPM programmes to MDI Gurgaon and other premier B schools like IIMs, SPJIMR, IMT is scheduled to be held on November 29, 2015 across 136 test cities in India at 650 test venues. CAT 2015 aspirants apart from registering and appearing in CAT 2015 exam need to apply to MDI Gurgaon to seek admission in 2016 latest by November 28, 2015.
Although MDI Gurgaon will use CAT 2015 scores to shortlist the candidates for final admission round 2016, IIMs have no role either in the selection process or in conducting the programme.
Flagship programmes at MDI
MDI Gurgaon offers three full time 2 years Post Graduate Programmes namely PGPM, PGP-HRM, PGP-IM.
Intake at MDI
The Intake to PGPM 2016-18 is 240 students and for PGP-HR it is 60 while for PGP-IM the intake is 45 students.
MDI: Eligibility to apply
The candidates must have 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in both X and XII.
The candidate must have minimum 3 years Bachelors Degree, with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in any discipline from any University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.. Candidates appearing for the final examination for the Bachelors degree (or equivalent examination) and completing all requirements for obtaining the Bachelors degree by 30th June, 2016 can also apply.
The basis for computing the percentage obtained by the candidate would be based on the practice followed by the university/ institution/board from where the candidate has obtained the degree/certificate. In case of the candidates being awarded grades/CGPA instead of marks, the equivalence would be based on the equivalence certified by the university/ institution/board from where they have obtained bachelors degree/certificate. In case the university/ institution /board does not have any scheme for converting CGPA into equivalent marks, the equivalence would be established by MDI by dividing obtained CGPA with the maximum possible CGPA and multiplying fraction so obtained by 100.
Online Application process
Applicants have to apply online by visiting MDI website http://www.mdi.ac.in. They can click on the programme they wish to apply for and follow the instructions given on the website. Online registration will be Open till November 28, 2015, 17:00 hrs. Candidates have to make an online payment of Rs 2200/- using Credit/Debit card/Net Banking.
Single Application form
Applicants need to fill only single application form. The preferences of PGPM/PGP-HRM/ PGP-IM will be taken only from the shortlisted candidates in the month of January/February 2016. The shortlisted candidates have to login at MDI website and enter their order of preference for PGPM/PGP-IM/PGP-HRM. Preferences once filled will not be changed at any stage later on.
Selection Process
Candidates who appear for the CAT 2015 will be short listed on the basis of the details filled in the application form and their CAT 2015 scores. Only the short listed candidates will then be called for Group Discussion and Personal Interviews during February and March 2016 at one of the centers, viz. Bangalore, Gurgaon, Kolkata, Hyderabad, Chennai and Mumbai (centers other than Gurgaon are tentative).

Successful candidates will be intimated of their final selection in April May 2016

CAT 2015: First step to MDI
CAT 2015, the largest MBA/PGDM entrance computer based test for admission session 2016 is the mandatory exam, if you plan to get admission in MDI in 2016. You will need a high score in CAT 2015 say a percentile in the range of 96 to 99+ apart from scoring balanced high sectional percentile.
MDI Gurgaon is one of the most preferred B-schools in India and number of candidates find it a better opportunity if they are offered admission to MDI instead of by few of the IIMs.
CAT 2015 is going to be conducted in a single day in 2 sessions on November 29, 2015. IIM Ahmedabad is convening CAT 2015 in partnership with testing agency TCS.

The last date for CAT 2015 registration is September 20, 2015. Around 2 lakhs aspirants are expected to register for CAT 2015. CAT 2015 with many changes: Prepare well
CAT 2015 is a computer based test and following are the major changes in the CAT 2015 exam structure and content. Be careful and plan your preparation strategy accordingly
There will be 3 sections with 100 questions in total in CAT 2015 instead of 2 sections.
Section-1 will be on Quant; section-2 on DILR and section-3 on Verbal & reading comprehension.
First and third section will consist of 34 questions each and second section will have 32 questions.
The time limit to solve the 100 questions on Quant, DILR and VRC shall be 180 minutes in CAT 2015 instead of 170 minutes allotted in CAT 2014. Each section will have individual time limit of 60 minutes.
Candidates are not allowed to go to other section before completion of time limit of 60 minutes allotted to one section. Hence the facility to toggle between the sections, available in CAT 2014 has been withdrawn in CAT 2015.
CAT 2015 will also have Non-MCQ type of questions in each section along with MCQs. No answer options will be provided for Non-MCQ type questions and the CAT 2015 takers will have to type the answers of these questions on computer screen in the provided space.
Candidates will have to score high in each of the 3 sections now to get shortlisted by top rated B schools like IIMs and MDI.
