With more than 1 lac candidates already registered and about the same number of candidates expected to register for CAT 2015, next 4 days to CAT 2015 registration are the only few days left to finalize the application process. If you wish to get into any of the 19 IIMs at present and one more to be added in 2016 or other top rated B-school like FMS, SPJIMR, MDI, IMI, IMT, NITIE, BIMTECH, TAPMI, Great lakes among others in 2016, Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 is the mandatory entrance exam for these institutes.
The last date announced by IIM Ahmedabad to close registration for Common Admission Test (CAT) 2015 is September 20, 2015.
CAT 2015 will be held on Sunday November 29, 2015 in 2 sessions of 3 hours duration each in 136 test cities and 650 testing venues. IIM Ahmedabad is convening CAT 2015 with TCS as partnering testing agency.
1 lac more expected to register for CAT 2015
It is expected that around 1 lac candidates would register for CAT 2015 in next 4 days making it an everyday pressure of around 20 to 25 thousand candidates on registration site. A simple calculation can bring home this point that every year there are around 2 lac candidates who register for CAT. While more than 1 lac have already registered till now, about 90000 to 1 lac more are expected to finalise the registration by the closing date.
Avoid the last date; complete it early
Waiting for the last day to register for CAT 2015 might put you in some unwarranted difficult situation as CAT has the history of heavy rush on the last day of registration process. The registration process requires entering the required details, uploading the photograph & signature and finally making the payment. There could be problems due to heavy rush on the last day due to which it may cause delay in accessing and completing the registration and payment making on the website.

Raising the query on behalf of CAT 2015 aspirants with Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, Convener CAT 2015 and faculty IIM Ahmedabad, when to finalise the registration for CAT 2015, MBAUniverse.com got the prompt response “To avoid rush, complete your registration at-least a few days before the last day of registration”
Although Prof Tathagata is confident enough that CAT 2015 registration site may not pose any technical problem till the Registration process gets over at 11.59 PM on September 20, 2015 and says “The registration and application submission process shall function normally. I trust that there will be no problem for candidates applying during the last few days” experts suggest completing the registration process without waiting for the last day as thousands are expected to finalize their registration process on the last day. It will be on the safer side for the candidates to avoid the last minute rush in their own interest and save time as the speed of the server might also be affected on the last day.
Many to make payment only
Candidates registering for CAT 2015 stop just before making payment of registration fee after entering and saving all other data to the CAT 2015 registration form since making payment of registration fee is the last step to registration process.
All at par: reason for last day rush
During the initial days after opening the CAT 2015 registration on August 6, 2015 the response remained lukewarm and there was no rush of CAT aspirants was there. It happened in CAT 2014 also when the flexibility to choose the test centre and session was withdrawn. This trend has continued for CAT 2015 also.
The candidates begin thronging the CAT registration site during the last few days as they know that the early and late applicants will be treated at par. But this factor creates problem for those who prefer to register and make payment on the last day after weighing the pros and cons as happened in CAT 2014 and called for re-opening of registration process due to technical glitches on CAT registration site.
Free registration delaying completion
Since the payment of fee is to be made after completion of all the details in the application form aspirants fill up the registration form for free, get their ID and Password and think of proceeding further later. This big change in the process of registration since CAT 2014 has also prompted candidates to go for late registration.
But the implication of the move could be a problem for CAT 2015 aspirants as their registration fee payment on the last day may get stuck in transit. Since no time is left to check the details and wait for the refund, the registration amount has to be paid again.
There are still 4 days left and if you wish to apply for CAT 2015, it’s better to apply now as you may face more technical problems at the eleventh hour.
