Sharing exclusively with MBAUniverse.com Convener CAT 2015 Prof Tathagata Bandyopadhyay, faculty at IIM Ahmedabad has revealed “179602 aspirants appeared in CAT 2015 exam and out of them 58270 were the girl candidates”

This is a great achievement for CAT 2015 conducting IIM Ahmedabad as there is substantial increase in ratio of girl candidates taking CAT this year.

50% of registered transgenders took CAT 2015
Another key achievement for IIM Ahmedabad in conducting CAT 2015 has been that out of 80 transgenders registered for CAT 2015, 41 took the test amounting to more than 50% of transgender candidates.

67590 non-Engineers appeared in CAT 2015
A substantial increase in number of candidates  from non-engineering back ground also made CAT 2015 achieve a new milestone. There were 67590 candidates from non-engineering back ground who took CAT 2015, while the number of engineers taking CAT 2015 stood at 112012.

With the aim to achieve academic diversity in IIM class rooms, this is significant as there are now more than 50% candidates from non engineering back ground who appeared in the prestigious and larget MBA/PGDM entrance test

 883 DA/PWD took CAT 2015
The number of DA/PWD candidates who appeared in CAT 2015 is 883.

CAT 2015 attendance shows an increase of 9 thousand candidates as against in CAT 2014 which had 1.70 lakh candidates taking the exam out of 1.97 lakh registered candidates. So far there has been the trend that around 10 to 15 percent of the registered candidates skip the prestigious and largest MBA/PGDM entrance test leading to admission in IIMs every year.

With total  number of absentees of around 39000 in CAT 2015 this fact stands proved again. The percentage of non CAT test takers was about 14% in 2014 and 11% in 2012 and 2013.

CAT 2015 could be recorded in the CAT history as the year of smooth and most successful completion of examination during the past 6 years as it had negligible disruptions, no technical snags, no question errors. Despite a totally revamped exam, CAT 2015 remained a very balanced test and was exactly on the lines of sample test published on CAT 2015 website by the CAT centre 2015.

CAT is the mandatory exam for admission to IIMs and is also the most sought after and wide spread MBA entrance test to the coveted B schools in India. The test has seen perceptible changes in paper pattern, size and type of examination since 2009  and has been gaining more and more popularity. The paper pencil based test was shifted to computer based test in 2009.  Another modification took place in 2010 when three sections were clubbed into two.  Earlier there were Quantitative Ability, Verbal Ability, DI & LR sections then they were clubbed into 2 sections Quant & DI and Verbal Ability & LR. In CAT 2015 this composition  was changed again and 3 sections namely VARC, DILR and Quant were restored as were there in CAT 2009. Number of questions in CAT 2015 remained 100 divided in 3 sections with sectional time limit of 1 hour each.

The competition in CAT 2015 remains as tough as ever among the aspirants. Those who missed the CAT 2015 may now focus on forthcoming examinations like XAT/SNAP/CMAT/MAH-CET.
