XAT 2016: 2 more days to finalise Registration; fee accepted till Dec 12; candidates confused

XAT 2016 aspirants were taken off guard by the SMS from XAT 2016 on Dec 12, 2015 to make payment of registration fee for XAT 2016 as well as for admission to XLRI. Received 2 days after closing of the registration process for XAT 2016, the message created great confusion for many and pleasant surprise for those who had registered but could not make the payment by the last date due to some technical glitches at the eleventh hour.

The message from XAT 2016 read Hi! Your XAT registration is still incomplete and you can proceed with your XAT form submission with the payment till 11.59 PM tonight. Click here to make payment.Please ignore if already paid. The facility was extended to all the candidates who had registered for XAT 2016 but did not make payment till the closing date of December 10, 2015.

Another message that was posted on XAT 2016 website at the afore mentioned link reads Registrations for XAT 2016 are closed. However if you are already registered, you can login and make payment for your application till midnight December 12th, 2016.

Confusion among candidates Since the registration was closed on December 10, 2015, almost all the XAT 2016 aspirants including transgenders who could not apply for XAT 2016 by the closing date raised their query whether they could still register on December 12, 2015 and could treat it as the last day for registration, could not make it to XAT 2016 as the site allowed only payment of registration fee and no fresh registration was allowed.

Candidates had another confusion as to why they could not register fresh, if they could make the payment even after 2 days from the closing of registration date. XAT 2016 did not prefer to answer the specific query but the message appeared on the site that registration for XAT 2016 are closed.

Impact on number In fact now with thousands of candidates registered but not paid the registration fee, there is a fear that this number may be accounted for in total number of registrations.

Now there would be a difference between the total number of candidates who have registered for XAT 2016 and the candidates who have registered and paid the registration fee for XAT 2016. It could run in thousands.

Registration process to one of the most favourite and largest management entrance tests XAT 2016 was closed on December 10, 2015. XLRI Jamshedpur the XAT 2016 conducting institute had already provided with 10 more days to register for the exam and extended the last date to apply from November 30 to December 10, 2015. Candidates desirous of appearing in XAT 2016 had the opportunity to register and apply for 10 more days. Another opportunity to make payment of the registration fee was extended for 2 more days till December 12, 2015.

Single form For the first time in XAT 2016, a single form has been provided to apply both for XAT 2016 and for XLRI, Jamshedpur without involving multiple application forms. Another facility provided by XAT 2016 is to apply to a member B-school through XAT login ID.

Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2016 is the second largest management entrance test after CAT and is expected to be taken by 70000 to 90000 candidates in a single session. The test will be held in paper pen mode on January 3, 2016 from 10Am to 1.30PM in 47 test cities in India. XAT 2016 is the gateway to 148 highly ranked B schools in India including XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT among others. The format of XAT would remain pen-paper based. Significant changes have been announced in the test structure and contents for XAT 2016. Not only number of questions in XAT 2016 has been reduced but also difficulty level has also been reduced. It will provide more opportunities with higher scores in the exam. Candidates would be able to explore admission opportunities in top B-schools after scoring high in XAT 2016. The paper-pen mode in XAT also ensures that all candidates are tested on exactly the same set of questions, and not on different sets.

XLRI has been conducting XAT on behalf of XAMI for the last 60 years at All India level in the paper pen mode to provide level playing field for the XAT aspirants coming from all backgrounds. The three and half hours test XAT 2016 will have 2 parts. The first part will be over in 170 minutes and after a break of 5 minutes second part with time duration 35 minutes would begin.

XAT 2016 will be divided between Objective MCQs and subjective Essay Writing tests. XAT 2016 test takers will have to complete the first 3 sections of the first part of the MCQ exam namely Verbal and Logical Ability; Decision Making; Quantitative Ability and Data Interpretation in 170 minutes while questions in General Knowledge section will have to be attempted in 10 minutes only. 25 minutes will separately be allotted for essay writing test.
