XAT 2016: Answer keys to Test Part 1 and 2 released; check if eligible to be shortlisted by XLRI
In the history of XAT, this is the second time in a row that XAT 2016 conducting XLRI has released the official XAT 2016 answer keys
Consecutively for the 2nd year in a row XLRI has released the answer keys and question paper with explanation for XAT 2016. This is also the first time that answer keys for non-percentile calculation section of GK have also been released. Candidates missed the answer keys for GK section last year.
In the 60 years history of Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) gate way to XLRI and other 147 top rated B schools, this practice of releasing the answer keys and the question paper with explanation began last year only when a few students grumbled and expressed their dissatisfaction regarding the XAT exam. XLRI the XAT conducting B-school immediately published the answer keys and the question paper to ensure total transparency in XAT.
Accordingly this is the second time in a row that XAT 2016 conducting XLRI has released the official XAT 2016 answer keys. The answers for all the questions across all the 4 sets of test papers have been released and published on XAT 2016 website.
There were 4 question paper sets titled A, B, C, D in XAT 2016. XLRI has released a separate document which contains only answer keys in respect to each set of questions as well as all the 4 sets of question papers containing well explained answer after each question.
Answer keys accessible to registered candidates
The entire question paper and the answer keys to XAT 2016 test MCQs for Part-1and Part-2 are available on the home page of XAT 2016 website. Only the candidates who had registered and made requisite payment for XAT 2016 are allowed to have access to MCQ answer keys and the question paper with explanation.
While the answer keys to XAT 2015 questions were accessible for everyone, the answer keys for XAT 2016 can be accessed only by XAT 2016 registered candidates.
To login to answer keys or to all the question paper sets of XAT 2016, you have to enter your XAT 2016 registration number and date of birth in DD/MM/YYYY format as desired by XLRI in the following fields
Answer keys: For percentile calculating and non-calculating sections
One more feature has been added in XAT 2016 with publication of answer keys for General Knowledge questions which are not accounted for in calculation of percentile score.
No answer keys for GK section were made available in last year XAT as it does not account for calculation of percentile. But in XAT 2016, the answer keys for all the MCQ type questions that appeared in the test paper have been made available. Candidates can now check their answers for XAT 2016 questions in all the 4 sections comprising 78 questions in first 3 sections on Verbal-LR, Quant-DI and Decision Making and 25 questions in GK section.
While the score in first 3 sections in XAT 2016 will be responsible for calculation of percentile on the basis of which candidates will be shortlisted for final admission round, score in GK section will be accounted for in the final admission, the GD-PI round. If a candidate finds that he has performed well, he should be ready to get shortlisted by the relevant B-school.
XAT 2016: Total Transparency
It is the commendable transparency in the XAT 2016 process that will enable the candidates to assess themselves where they stand. Since XAT 2016, held on January 3, 2016 was the paper pen based test and the candidates were allowed to take the question booklet with them, they can very well assess their position and can judge the scores they would be going to get based on the accuracy of the answered questions.
The explanations are supposed to help the aspirants in ascertaining their chances to be shortlisted by top rated B schools and also provide them guidance for the future.
XAT 2016 result by Jan 31
XAT 2016 result is going to be declared latest by January 31, 2016 as assured by XAT 2016 convener Prof Munish Thakur. It is expected that XAT 2016 result could be announced earlier also. According to XLRI XAT 2016 results will be available on the website by 31stJanuary 2016.
148 B schools to accept XAT 2016 scores
Number of B-schools going to accept XAT 2016 scores has gone up from 120 in 2015 to 148 in 2016. Apart from the top rated B schools like XLRI, XIMB, SPJIMR, IMT, XISS, TAPMI, LIBA more than 140 B-schools will offer admission on the basis of XAT 2016 scores.
Xavier Aptitude Test (XAT) 2016 convened by XLRI, Jamshedpur was held on January 3, 2016 in a single session in 47 test cities across the country and 2 test cities abroad. XAT 2016 had the test duration of 3 and half hours (210) minutes with reduced number of questions as compared to last year XAT.
