CAT 2016 test takers may be in for a pleasant surprise of getting more than 1 day testing window if their request is acceded to by IIM Bangalore who is convening CAT this year with testing partner agency TCS. The CAT 2016 notification, to be released in the last week of July will further clarify the details.

After taking feedback from their peers who appeared in CAT last year, the CAT 2016 aspirants are repeatedly requesting IIM Bangalore to conduct the exam in more than 1 day testing window this year. Since 1 day CAT 2016 may become binding on many counts, the prospective test takers are raising their requests to IIM Bangalore the CAT 2016 convening IIM through various sources including MBA Universe.com to go for more than 1 day testing window instead of sticking to single day CAT as happened last year.

CAT 2016 convener Prof Rajendra K Bandi, faculty IIM Bangalore has not yet responded about the decision on such requests but a positive outcome cannot be ruled out. After the CAT 2016 Group meeting and exam committee meeting, the indications are that CAT 2016 will bring about more changes this year.

All the modalities on convening the largest management entrance test CAT 2016 have been finalized by IIM Bangalore and the testing partner TCS. There are hardly 15 days left for the issue of CAT 2016 notification in print media. It is expected that CAT 2016 notification may be released on July 24, 2016.

Valid ground behind 2 days CAT request
CAT 2016 aspirants, working as well as non-working have approached MBAUniverse.com to convey their request to IIM Bangalore to convene the exam in at least 2 days test window instead of summing it up in one day as happened last year.

The valid reason shared by them is that there is not sufficient gap between their other exams like IIFT MBA (IB) entrance exam which is scheduled on the 4th Sunday of November 2016; NMAT by GMAC which is held in 75 days test window and the registration for which has already opened on July 4. Many candidates who have applied for NMAT by GMAC have also scheduled their exam and in case the date of CAT 2016 clashes they will have to reschedule their exam date and also their travel plan.

Rescheduling for the other exam will also incur higher expenses. It may be noted while registration for NMAT by GMAC has already begun, the registration process for IIFT will begin in the second week of July whereas Registration for CAT 2016 would begin in the first week of August.

As it happened last year, it is very much possible that the test dates for longer duration exam may clash with CAT 2016. Besides, there are limited test centres for IIFT and NMAT by GMAC as compared to CAT exam and as such candidates find it difficult to rush from one city to other overnight.

Candidates now request IIM Bangalore to convene CAT 2016 on 2 consecutive weekends. This would solve their problem.

CAT 2016 with more changes
Changes and consistent evolution is the legacy of CAT over the years. It is expected that CAT 2016 will throw more surprises and changes this year. The prestigious MBA entrance exam CAT 2016 is expected to be further glorified with a little higher and different standard of testing in CAT 2016 clubbed with more innovations in the exam that may be incorporated by IIM Bangalore.

The computer based CAT 2016 exam is not expected to offer any facility of Off- line application process and all the registration activity will have to completed on-line only.

IIM Bangalore is conducting CAT 2016 and Prof Rajendra K Bandi is the convener for CAT 2016 while testing partner agency is Tata Consultancy Services (TCS).  Common Admission Test (CAT) is the mandatory and most prestigious entrance test for admission to PGP/MBA/ PGDM  programmes in 20 IIMs, FMS, JBIMS, SPJIMR, MDI, IMI, IMT, BIMTECH, TAPMI and other top rated B schools in the country. CAT is a computer based test (CBT) with not even a part of the exam paper-pencil based.

High scores in CAT 2016 will enable about 40000 candidates to get admission in high ROI top tier MBA programmes of highly ranked B schools apart from IIMs in 2017.  Besides, even low scorers in CAT 2016 may also get very good B schools according to their scores and academic profile.
