CAT 2016 Admit card will be issued with a delay of 6 days. Now the admit card will be available for view and download from October 24 instead of October 18, 2016 as announced earlier by CAT Centre 2016.
Announcing the delay in issue of CAT 2016 Admit cards, IIM Bangalore shares “CAT 2016 Admit Cards can be downloaded from 01:00 PM on Monday October 24, 2016.” The displayed heading icons under important dates on CAT 2016 site also convey that Oct 24, 2016 is the date to download the CAT 2016 Admit card from 1 PM onwards instead of October 18.
The Admit Card was earlier proposed to be issued on October 18, 2016. In response to the query on CAT 2016 registration section in regard to issue of Admit Card, CAT Centre 2016 had replied “Admit card will be available for view and print from Tuesday, 18th October 2016, 1:00PM onwards. The Admit card will appear only if your online application form is submitted successfully.”
Now the date mentioned for issue of CAT 2016 admit card has been changed to ‘Monday October 24’. You will have to log onto the CAT website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon correct submission of online application form. CAT Centre 2016 has clarified ‘You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission.’
Reasons for delay
The delay of 6 days in issuing the CAT 2016 Admit Card is caused due to two major reasons. Higher registrations with 2.32 lakh candidates and extension of registration date by 5 days have caused the delay in issue of CAT 2016 admit cards.
Number of registrations in CAT 2016 has gone up to 2.32 lakhs from 2.18 lakhs in CAT 2016. In order to cope with the rush CAT Centre 2016 requires few more days to finalise the issuance of CAT 2016 Admit Cards.
Another major reason in delay of issuing CAT 2016 admit card is the extension of 5 days from September 22 to September 27, 2016 in CAT 2016 registration process. Since more checks & balances are required to be placed before issuing the CAT 2016 Admit Cards to 2.32 lakh candidates, obviously unless everything is put right, the admit card cannot be issued.
10 days delay last year
In CAT 2015 the issue of Admit cards was also delayed by 10 days. It was earlier announced that CAT Admit cards would be available for view and print from October 15, 2015 onwards but a day before IIMs posted the message that the Admit Cards would be available to view and print on October 25, 2015 from 1 PM onwards.
CAT 2016 Admit Card: A mandatory document
According to CAT 2016 convening IIM Bangalore, “The Admit Card is a mandatory document required to take the exam. You must print the Admit Card and bring it to the exam centre on the day of the exam.”
Without Admit Card entry to test centre will not be permitted and an aspirant has to ensure to carry the print out of his CAT 2016 Admit Card with him
No Admit card, if not eligible
Please remember that you will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon submission of online application form. You must have received an automated email confirmation upon successful submission. It is imperative to know whether you were able to successfully submit the online application form and received the mail confirmation regarding the same. In case it didn’t happen you wouldn’t receive the CAT 2016 exam Admit Card.
Admit Card: No hard copy
IIM Bangalore the CAT 2016 convening IIM has clarified that “The admit card will be only available on the CAT Website when you log on using your CAT 2016 User ID.” No hard copy of CAT 2016 Admit card will be sent to you.
Admit Card details
The Admit card for CAT 2016 when received on your mail should contain following information.
-Your name as entered in the registration/application form of CAT 2016
-Date of CAT 2016 exam along with slot of exam
-Address of CAT 2016 test city and centre
-User ID/registration number
-PWD/DA status
The Admit Card can now be directly printed from the CAT 2016 website using your User ID and Password from 1 PM onwards on October 24, 2016 till test day. The admit card will not be mailed to your postal address. If you are unable to view your Admit Card even on the mail, you should immediately refer and report to the CAT 2016 help desk.
