CAT 2016 Admit Card Out on October 24 after 6 days delay; IIMs not to delay the process further

The 6 days delay in release of CAT 2016 Admit card from October 18 to October 24 as the new date of release announced by IIM Bangalore, will not be extended any further. CAT 2016 aspirants who had successfully completed their registration and received the message from IIM Bangalore to this effect, will be able to view and download and their CAT 2016 Admit Card from 1 PM onwards on October 24 now.

IIMs do not propose any further delay and will hopefully not extend the date of CAT 2016 Admit Card release from October 24 as it will then impact adversely on the candidature verification and timely rectification before the exam on December 4. Any more delay in release of CAT 2016 Admit Card due to one or other technical problem may not only create problems for the candidates to get their misprinted details on Admit card corrected but IIM Bangalore might also find it difficult to rectify the same well within time since candidature with wrong details in admit card is liable to be cancelled by the IIMs.

CAT 2016: Series of delays
This year CAT 2016 activities have been marked with number of delays right from the beginning.

Exam Notification delayed
CAT exam notification which earlier used to be published around July 24 to 26, was delayed by a week or so this year and was released on July 31, 2016.

Registration process extended
Registration process for CAT 2016 was supposed to be closed on September 22 but was extended by a week and was then closed on September 27, 2016. It marked an increase of 14000 candidates over last year. The registration number for CAT 2015 was 2.18 lakh, while for CAT 2016 it has increased to 2.32 lakhs.

Admit Card delayed by 6 days
CAT 2016 Admit Card was supposed to be released on October 18 and now it is proposed to be released on October 24, 2016 at 1 PM.
Announcing the delay in issue of CAT 2016 Admit cards, IIM Bangalore informed CAT 2016 Admit Cards can be downloaded from 01:00 PM on Monday October 24, 2016. However, The Admit card will appear only if your online application form is submitted successfully.

You will have to log onto the CAT website with your registered User ID. You will be eligible for an Admit Card only upon correct submission of online application form. CAT Centre 2016 has clarified You will receive an automated email confirmation upon successful submission.

CAT 2016: Practice test delay
The full length practice test for CAT 2016 was supposed to be made available by IIM Bangalore on October 18. But, now the practice test has been delayed by 10 days and will now be available on CAT 2016 website in the end of October.
Since the CAT 2016 mock test to be released by IIM Bangalore will be on the same pattern as that of CAT 2016 exam and will share the total number, nature and sectional division of questions, the 2.32 lakh CAT 2016 aspirants are eagerly awaiting the practice test.

Will CAT 2016 exam date be postponed?
CAT 2016 aspirants are now worried whether the exam date will also be postponed by a week or so, after a series of delay in CAT 2016 activities that has already taken place so far. The exam is proposed to be conducted on December 4 which is already late by few days as CAT exam so far used to be over in the month of November whether it had a 20 days, 2 days or 1 day test window.

However, it may not be possible to further postpone the exam date of CAT 2016 as all the test venues in the 138 test cities would have to be kept ready in time and IIM Bangalore may not like to postpone the CAT 2016 exam date as it will be the 1st instance of its kind.

Delay not deliberate
The delay of 6 days in issuing the CAT 2016 Admit Card is caused due to two major reasons. Higher registrations with 2.32 lakh candidates and extension of registration date by 5 days have caused the delay in issue of CAT 2016 admit cards.
In order to cope with the rush CAT Centre 2016 required few more days to finalise the issuance of CAT 2016 Admit Cards.

Another major reason in delay of issuing CAT 2016 admit card is the extension of 5 days from September 22 to September 27, 2016 in CAT 2016 registration process. Since more checks & balances are required to be placed before issuing the CAT 2016 Admit Cards to 2.32 lakh candidates, obviously unless everything is put right, the admit card cannot be issued.

Without Admit Card entry to test centre will not be permitted and an aspirant has to ensure to carry the print out of his CAT 2016 Admit Card with him
