FMS Delhi announces MBA 2017-19 admission: CAT 2016 sectional weightage marks key change in shortlisting

Announcing sectional weightage to CAT 2016 scores in shortlisting criteria, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) Delhi has announced its admission for MBA 2017-19 batch. The online application process which started on November 1 will remain open till November 30, 2016. The only exam scores acceptable to FMS Delhi are of CAT 2016.

FMS Delhi has delayed the announcement of starting the admission process for MBA 2017-19 batch by a month as compared to last year which began on October 1 and closed on November 15, 2015.

FMS aspirants will now need not only high percentile scores in CAT 2016 but will also have to score equally good percentile in all of its 3 sections to get shortlisted at the first stage for final admission round.
Sharing with MBAUniverse.com in regard to changes in shortlisting criteria in MBA admission process Dr M L Singla, Dean, FMS Delhi said “A composite score shall be computed giving weightages of 30%, 30%, and 40% to the scores of QA, DI/LR and VRC sections respectively as provided by the CAT Centre for the CAT 2016 Examination for candidates who apply to FMS.”

CAT 2016 aspirants apart from appearing in CAT 2016 have to apply to FMS Delhi to seek admission in MBA 2017-19 batch by the last date of November 30, 2016.

Application process
The on line application process to register and apply for flagship 2 years full time MBA programme 2017-19 and for Doctoral & other programmes at FMS Delhi has started on November 1 and will close on November 30, 2016.

All candidates seeking admission to FMS Delhi will be required to appear in the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2016 to be conducted by IIMs on December 4, 2016.

Eligible candidates appearing for CAT 2016 and planning to take admission to 2-year full-time MBA Program at FMS Delhi for the batch 2017-19 can apply online through FMS website. There is no off-line mode to register and apply for MBA 2017-19 batch in FMS Delhi.

Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for admission to the 2 Year Full-Time MBA 2017-19 at FMS Delhi must hold a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline after 12 years of formal schooling with at least 50% marks (SC/ST: Passing marks; OBC/PWD/CW: 45%) or equivalent CGPA. Candidates appearing for the final year examination of Bachelor's Degree may also apply. Applicants who have not taken CAT 2016 will not be considered for admission.

Application fee
The cost of online application to FMS Delhi is Rs. 1000/- (Rs 350/- for SC/ST/PWD) and the online payment facility is available through the website of FMS.

Intake at FMS
The intake at FMS may be revised while finalizing the admission for MBA programmes. However the present intake is as follows

Reserved                           SC -30, ST – 15, OBC – 54
Supernumerary seats     PWD-6; CW-10; FS-10

Apart from MBA (Full time), FMS also offers doctoral programmes.

Fee Structure
FMS Delhi is a high ROI B school with a low fee structure and high placement packages.

The annual tuition fee payable to Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi is approximately Rs. 10,000/- for MBA (FT) programme.

Total fee for 2 years MBA (Full time) programme at FMS including some other charges does not exceed Rs.25 thousand.

Key changes in Selection Procedure
FMS Delhi will shortlist the candidates after declaration of CAT 2016 results in January 2017 for the flagship MBA (Full time) course.

FMS Delhi which used to shortlist the candidates at the first stage only on the basis of overall CAT percentile, will award weightage to CAT 2016 sectional scores also in the ratio of 40%, 30% and 30% to VARC, DILR and Quant respectively for the 1st stage shortlisting for admission to MBA 2016-18.

Apart from the weightage to sectional scores, additional 3 marks will be added to the composite scores at the shortlisting stage.

The academic profile, work experience and other factors will be taken into account at the final admission round.

The final selection at FMS Delhi will be based on Extempore Speech  and Personal interview, where academic record and work experience will also be given due weightage apart from CAT 2016 scores.

The cumulative performance of the candidate in the CAT 2016 as well as the Extempore speech and personal interview round will be the basis to convert the call to MBA (FT) at FMS Delhi.

FMS Delhi is one the oldest and top ranked B-school in India started in 1954 in University of Delhi. The main USP of FMS is its very low fee with very high quality of education. Placement record of the FMS is excellent. In placement season 2016, average compensation at FMS Delhi increased to Rs.20.5 lakhs per annum showing a rising trend in the MBA job market. The highest domestic compensation also increased to Rs.66 lakhs in placement 2016.
