Professor M.P. Ram Mohan, faculty at IIM Ahmedabad in Business Policy Area and Chairperson Admissions at IIM Ahmedabad is the Convener of CAT 2021 exam. Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ahmedabad, the top management institute in India, Ranked #1 in NIRF Ranking 2020 is going to conduct CAT 2021. Prof Ram Mohan is also a law expert. He is convening CAT 2021 without any change in testing partner agency TCS which has been conducting IIM-CAT since 2013.

A native of Thiruvananthapuram (Kerala), the Convener of CAT 2021, Prof M P Ram Mohan holds multiple responsibilities at IIM Ahmedabad and various professional affiliations. Apart from being an Associate Professor of Strategy Area at IIM Ahmedabad, he is also Chair, Admissions.

Prof Ram Mohan is an expert in Law and has various professional affiliations. He is President of Nuclear Law Association, India since 2012 and is a Member- Nuclear Energy for Peaceful Applications Standards Setting Committee, Bureau of Indian Standards, Government of India since 2012.  He is the India Focal Point- IUCN World Commission on Environmental Law since 2008 and is India Correspondent, Nuclear Law Bulletin, OECD-Nuclear Energy Agency since 2012

Prof Ram Mohan is a Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur. He did his MPhil, from National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata. He is an LL.M from the  University of Wales, Aberystwyth. He is a B.A. & LLB from Mangalore University. 

Prof Ram Mohan is an Associate Professor in Business Policy Area since 2017 at IIM Ahmedabad. Prior to this he was Associate Professor at Department of Policy Studies, TERI University from 2015 to 2017. He served at Regulatory and Governance Division:
TERI, New Delhi from 2004 to 2012 and served as Research Faculty at Centre for Law, Technology and Development, National University of Juridical Sciences (NUJS), Kolkata from 2001 to 2003. Apart from this he was a practicing Advocate at Trivandrum District Court, Kerala from 1997-1999.

Known for his flair for research and writing, Prof  Ram Mohan has been keen on research. His research interests have been in the areas of  Commerical and Business Law, Studies on Judiciary, Law, Strategy and Organizations, Business and Professional negligence, Energy and Infrastructure law, Restatement of Indian Contract Law.

His Publications, case studies and reviews are widely read, referred and quoted across the globe.  His significant published books include ‘Nuclear Energy and Liability in South Asia: Institutions, Legal Frameworks and Risk Assessment within SAARC’- M P Ram Mohan (2015) published by Springer India. He co-authored ‘Handbook on Nuclear Regulatory Framework in India' -Tyson R. Smith & M.P. Ram Mohan (2018) published by Eastern Book Company

Case Studies by Prof Ram Mohan include, ‘Automobile recall and liability: Katzer Motors Private Limited’, ‘Corporate Criminal Liability in India’, ‘Criminal Negligence and Director's Liability Under Indian Penal Code: The case of Bhopal Gas Tragedy’among many others. Apart from various case studies and conference presentations at national and international level, Prof Ram Mohan has contributed many Book Chapters and his articles and research papers are published in many leading national and international journals.

More updates on CAT 2021 are expected shortly. Committed academician and able administrator clubbed in one is what Prof Ram Mohan is. He may bring about more effective changes in CAT 2021. More CAT 2021 takers expected
Common Admission Test (CAT) 2021 is the mandatory exam for admission to management programmes at IIMs and other top B schools in India. In CAT 2020  number of candidates who registered for the exam were 2.27 lakhs.

With the increased number of intake in IIMs and other B-schools, it is expected that more candidates may apply for CAT 2021.

This was IIM Ahmedabad that shrunk the CAT exam to one day testing window in 2015. This is the second time since then, that IIM Ahmedabad has been assigned the responsibility to convene the exam. Earlier IIM Ahmedabad conducted CAT in 2015 and not only increased the number of test sections from two to three but also introduced Non-MCQ type questions without negative marking penalty in CAT exam, under the convenership of Prof Tathagat Bandyopadhyay.

CAT 2020 conducted by IIM Indore brought number of effective changes like number of test sessions increased from two to three; reduced number of questions from 100 to 76; reduced testing time slots from 3 hours to 2 hours with many other changes. The exam was convened by IIM Indore under the convenership of Prof Harshal Lowalekar, faculty at IIM Indore on November 29, 2021.

The process of change in CAT began in 2014 and in 2015 and the test was totally transformed. Now since IIM Ahmedabad is known for its different approach, it is expected that more changes would be effected in CAT 2021.
