Elated with the rankings, Sanjay Padode, Chairman of the Governing Board at IFIM said “This is the probably the best news for a private business school on its Silver Jubilee year. The faculty of IFIM Business School has always dreamt big and I am proud that their efforts are elevating the stature of Indian Management Education globally.” Hailing the results, Dr. Atish Chattopadhyay, Director, IFIM Business School said “Post AACSB Accreditation in 2018, IFIM Business School took a break from Indian rankings and restructured itself for the Global Rankings. The results of the rankings by QS is a testimony to IFIM Business School being future ready, globally relevant and at par with top global B-Schools.”
MIM: A fast growing programs globally
Globally, MIM offers foundational courses in management and business for students with work experience under 2 years. MIM programs are positioned for students keen on getting entry level management jobs and are not willing to wait for 4-5 years that are needed for an MBA. According to a GMAC survey, MIM Programs are growing faster than MBA programs globally. In India, MBA program (which is ideally suited for candidates with 4-5 years of experience) has taken up the MIM slot where candidates without any experience can also enter. According to experts, MIM programs will be preferred by both graduates and employers for entry level managerial jobs.
“For the first job, specialised knowledge and technical skills are very important. As one moves up the ladder, one needs to have a holistic view of business, and therefore, a general MBA becomes relevant for a leadership role. In India, most of the first MBA jobs are based on specialised skills. And if that is the case, a Specialised Masters (or specialised master’s in management) is probably more suited for a fresher,” says Dr Atish Chattopadhyay.
“Given majority of management degree aspirants in India are freshers or with limited experience, an MIM (or a Specialised Masters) is more suitable in the Indian context,” he adds.
IFIM Launches ‘PGDM SpecX’ to focus on specialized Masters Program
Understanding its strengths, as recognized by QS Rankings, IFIM recently launched two new AICTE approved programmes - PGDM in Marketing and PGDM in Finance with Super Specializations to groom professionals in marketing and finance domains. Branded as ‘PGDM SpecX’, the programs will be taught by India’s top faculty in Marketing and Finance. Both the programs have distinctive features.
When asked the rationale for these launches, Dr Chattopadhyay says, “IFIM Business School is the only B-School from India to be ranked for Marketing and Finance specialisations. This clearly establishes IFIM Business School’s leadership position in grooming specialist finance and marketing professionals, who are relevant to the needs of the industry and are of global standards.”
IFIM PGDM Marketing is a two-year full-time specialized programme in management and is specially designed for students interested in focusing on a specialized management domain to build their career. The group also includes 4 faculty each with degrees from Central and Foreign Universities, and 14 faculty with CXO level experience.
