Shri Dharmasthala Mnjunatheshwara Institute for Management Development (SDMIMD), Mysore, known for quality education with standards in academics and high academic and gender diversity, has entered academic partnership with TCSiON and has signed a significant and first of its kind MoU which focuses on Academic Enhancement. The SDMIMD and Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) partnership envisages corporate professional inputs for eight select courses followed by an internship in an area of relevance to management. The partnership is in line with the core vision of the New Education Policy 2020 for preparing the students for the real work scenario.
The SDMIMD and TCSIoN educational partnership will offer Supplementary Study for the students of SDMIMD's flagship Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM) on TCSiON Platform. SDMIMD students will also undergo the National Qualifier Test (NQT) of TCS as part of the supplementary study. On completion, Students will get a joint certificate issued by SDMIMD and TCSiON certifying the supplementary study experience.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was exchanged by Dr. N.R. Parasuraman, Director, SDMIMD and Sri. Ravindra Kembhavi, Head Sales and Chief Education Evangelist, TCS iON, in the presence of Dr. D. Veerendra Heggade, Chairman SDMIMD on December 17, 2021 in the SDMIMD Auditorium. This agreement is path-breaking in its potential as it adds great value for the PGDM programme as SDMIMD is able to leverage this association with a leading company of India. The agreement is valid for 5 years.
Dr. N R Parasuraman, Director of SDMIMD called this arrangement a path-breaking collaboration for more corporatisation of orientation. He expressed that hope that in the coming years more aspects will get covered under the agreement and said, “Corporatization and hands-on work experience have been labelled as key desired takeaways in a quality management program. An arrangement of this type boosts the students’ practical exposure and thinking process. It is a matter of joy for all of us at SDMIMD that TCS has recognized the inherent strengths of SDMIMD, and consented to this value-adding proposition.”

The Courses, Inputs & Internships are by TCS Ion
The nature of interventions by TCSiON will be in the form of expert sessions, exercises conducted by senior level practitioners from the industry. The expert sessions will supplement the customary pedagogy that the faculty of SDMIMD follow in the courses.
These internships are online internships for a duration of 125 hours in the fast-expanding areas and new technologies. The internships by TCSIoN are provided in addition to the existing two-month Summer Internship program. The process will ensure that students get practical hands-on exposure to decision-making.
No Extra Fee for Courses
The supplementary study courses are integrated part of the SDMIMD PGDM program and no separate fee will be charged from the students.
SDMIMD-TCSiON Joint Certificate for all PGDM Students
This certificate will be awarded to all students of the batch as the entire SDMIMD PGDM batch will undergo the TCSiON modules of supplementary study. On completion of the TCS iON orientation, students will get a joint certificate having details of the courses undergone as part of the supplementary study.
TCS National Qualifier Test (NQT): Plays Important Role in Placement Process
TCS NQT is a game changing initiative that significantly benefits the students. This test plays an important role in placement process. It serves as the basis of entry as MBA recruitment at TCS is being done through a national level common test since 2018-19. As per the SDMIMD and TCS MoU, all students of SDMIMD will undergo the aforementioned TCS-iON training modules, get an attempt for this test. - The tests are conducted Online Remote Proctored (at home or institution) and physically In-Centre at TCS iON Authorised Exam Centres.
