An easier than last year TANCET 2020 exam got over on February 29, 2020 at 4.30 PM for MBA admission 2020 in University Departments, University Colleges Management,  Regional Campuses of Anna University, Annamalai University, Government and Government Aided Colleges and Self-financing Colleges in the State of Tamil Nadu. Other State candidates also appeared for TANCET 2020.


Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test (TANCET) 2020 was conducted by Anna University, Chennai as paper based test in 15 cities of Tamil Nadu. The exam was designed to analyze the Quantitative, Qualitative and analytical ability along with Reasoning, Verbal Ability and candidate’s aptitude.


TANCET question paper consisted of 100 questions. There were total 100 questions from different sections to check candidates’ ability in 5 sections on Data analysis; Data sufficiency; Reading Comprehension; Quantitative Aptitude; General English.

TANCET 2020 Analysis: Key Highlights
Following were the key changes and highlights of TANCET 2020 exam:

  • TANCET 2020 test paper was of moderate difficulty level as compared to last year
  • Cut offs are expected to remain  at 34-37 marks
  • TANCET 2020 remained a paper based test
  • TANCET exam 2020 consisted of 100 questions in MCQ format with maximum score of 100 marks.
  • TANCET Exam was held in a single session from 2.30PM to 4.30 PM.
  • Each question in TANCET was followed by 4 alternate answer options.
  • Each correct answer in TANCET 2020 is awarded +1 mark and each wrong answer  carries 1/3 negative marking.
  • Candidates were required to choose the correct answer and shade the corresponding small open box provided for that question in the answer sheet with a black ball point pen 
  • In case more than one open box was shaded for any question, it will be treated as wrong answer and 1/3 mark will be deducted as negative marking.

TANCET Cut Offs 2020
Keeping in view the moderate difficulty level of TANCET 2020, it is expected that TANCET cut offs will be slightly higher than last year and will be between 34-37 marks out of 100.


Candidates who have written the TANCET 2020 will be notified with actual marks and percentile score they have obtained, at the time of publishing result. However, to avoid projecting negative scoring, the final score card will contain only the percentile score. The percentile score is calculated using the formula: Percentile Score =(Y/N)* 100. where Y is number of students scored lesser mark than the candidate in that examination and N is the total number of students appeared for the examination.
