Check your affordability for MBA: Rs 12-15 lakh is what you need to get into top B-schools

How much does it cost to get into top B-schools in India? This must have cropped up in your mind as you register for different MBA Entrance Exam like CAT, XAT to enter your dream B-schools.

While an MBA degree offers you enormous opportunities to grow and build career in corporate world across the globe, the MBA programmes are also among the costliest study options. Therefore, you need to make informed choice on your B-school options depending on your affordability also.

As the economy continues to give hiccups to B-schools during placement season, most of the B-schools have either kept their fees unchanged or have gone for a token fee hike as the incurring cost on the education and training has also increase during last few years.

While the fee structure of most of the top IIMs range between Rs 12-17 Lakh, many other top B-schools have either the similar fee structure or a range lesser by 10-20 per cent. Some top B-schools like FMS Delhi and JBIMS Mumbai, however, charge nominal tuition fees as applicable to other programmes under University system. For Example, while the total fee for FMS Delhi during its two year programme is as little as 0.21 lakh, the same for JBIMS Mumbai is Rs 2 lakh. Fee for the MBA programmes at Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) range between Rs 3-4 lakh.

Check your affordability for IIMs: The premier Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) are the dream B-schools for every MBA aspirant in India. While the IIMs sit on the top of the B-school system in India as they offer best quality of education, their two-year full time MBA programmes also remain in the club of costliest management programmes offered by different B-schools in India.

Most of the top IIMs like IIM-A and IIM-B charge between Rs 12-17 lakh as their total fee for the two year management programme. The management programmes at new IIMs, however, cost Rs 10 Lakh or below. For the academic year 2013-14, some IIMs had also revised their fees.

IIMB had increased its fees for batch of 2013-15 to Rs 17 lakh from the previous fee structure of Rs 15 lakh. The following table brings you a snap shot of the fee structure at different IIMs.

For 2013-15 batch, IIMA has a fee structure of Rs 16.6 lakh, and the same for IIM-C and IIM Indore is Rs 13.6 lakh and Rs 13 lakh respectively. IIM Fees: 2013 Vs 2012
