IIM Amritsar Newly appointed Director, Prof. Nagarajan Ramamoorthy has assumed charge on July 15, 2019. Incidentally, he took the charge just a day before IIM Amritsar is getting ready to welcome its 5th MBA Batch 2019-21 on July 16, 2019.
Prof Nagarajan is an alumnus of XLRI and received his Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management & Industrial Relations from XLRI, Jamshedpur. He is a Ph.D.in Business & Management from the Robert H. Smith School of Business., University of Maryland, U.S.A.
Bringing with him rich industry and academic experience, Prof Ramamoorthy has served Indian Airlines, Brakes India Limited of TVS group and Voltas Limited of Tata group. After completing his his doctoral studies from the Robert H Smith School of Business., University of Maryland, USA, he taught at University of Maryland, Marymount University, and University of Houston-Victoria, where he held several positions such as the founding Chair of the Management and Marketing Department. He has been a member of the School’s executive team for AACSB accreditation, member of the President’s cabinet and academic council, and President of the Faculty Council.
He has extensive international experience which include two Fulbright teaching and research scholarships to Bulgaria (University of National and World Economy, Sofia) & Latvia (University of Applied Sciences, Valmiera), Inter-Country exchange scholarship to Austria (University of Applied Sciences, St. Poelten) among others. He has served on the Peer Review team for Fulbright council for three years in the USA. He has been on the editorial boards of several leading international journals.
After the registration process on July 9, 2019, IIM Amritsar has already started the Orientation Programme for its incoming MBA 2019-21 batch from July 10 to 13, 2019.
The Orientation Programme shared the system and procedures at IIM Amritsar followed by workshops to familiarise the incoming batch with the committee, clubs, policies and pedagogy at IIM Amritsar. The students have been provided acquaintance with the MBA programme offered at IIM Amritsar.
IIM Amritsar is the 15th Indian Institute of Management set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development with the support of Government of Punjab in 2015.The institute is being mentored by IIM Kozhikode. IIM Amritsar has consistently increased its intake in each subsequent batch. IIM Amritsar was the first among the new IIMs to increase its batch strength to more than 100 in the second batch.
