The two-year full-time Post Graduate Programme in Management (PGPM) is the flagship programme of IIM Tiruchirappalli. The PGPM is recognized by Association of Indian Universities as equivalent to a Master’s Degree of an Indian University for the purpose of admission to higher studies. Its main objective is to develop young women and men into competent professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, proceeding leadership and achieving excellence in performance while contributing to the welfare of the larger society.
The first year of the programme offers courses covering various disciplines exposing the students to different facets of business management. On completion of these core courses, the programme provides the option of choosing electives from a pool of specialized courses during the second year. The elective courses are designed to nurture future managers in the area of their interests, aligning them with their career goals and objectives. Students work on a Summer Internship assignment in an organization and also undertake ‘Make a Difference’ Team project as part of the curriculum.

Students enrolled in the PGPM are required to complete 96 credits made up of 51 credits in the 1st year and 45 in the 2nd year. The institute uses the concept of credit to define the weightage of a course in the curriculum.
All PGPM students between the 1st and the 2nd year are required to work on a summer internship assignment in an organization for a period of 8 to 10 weeks. Interns are evaluated by organisations and a satisfactory rating on the evaluation is required in order to complete the requirements for the graduation. A range of elective courses across areas are offered in the second year. The courses offered every year would depend on the interests of respective batches
