MBA Admission eligibility for JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA & 400 others announced; MAT takers at par in admission criteria

MBA/MMS 2017-19 admission eligibility through CAP round 2017 for 400 management institutes including JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, N L Dalmiya, PUMBA has been announced by the Higher and Technical Education Department, Government of Maharashtra vide its notification ref No. TEM-2016/CR 473(part 1)/TE-4 dated April 24, 2017.

 

According to the Schedule C for Post Graduate Degree Courses, as detailed in the notification on admission eligibility to MBA/MMS courses in B-schools in Maharashtra, the candidates who have “Obtained score in one of the following examinations;CET conducted by the Competent Authority,Graduate Management Aptitude Test Conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council, United States of America (GMAT), Common Admission Test conducted by Indian Institute of Management (CAT), Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Management Association (MAT), Entrance Test for Management Admissions conducted by The Association of Indian Management Schools.(ATMA), Xavier Aptitude Test conducted by Xavier School of Management Jamshedpur (XAT) and Common Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (CMAT)” are eligible to participate in Centralized Admission process (CAP) 2017 for admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 in the B-schools in Maharashtra.

For MBA admission 2017-19 in Maharashtra B-schools including JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, PUMBA among others, Government of Maharashtra has announced in detail the following eligibility criteria to participate in CAP round 2017 –

 

 

 

How important is announcement for MAT 2017 May exam takers

The MBA admission eligibility announcement through CAP 2017 is very important if you are going to appear in MAT 2017 May exam on May 7 in paper – pen test or on May 13 in computer based test.

 

The MBA admission eligibility announcement clarifies on the different MBA entrance exam acceptability in CAP 2017 round and specifically mentions ‘Provided for the academic year 2017-18, Obtained score in one of the following examinations; … Management Aptitude Test Conducted by All India Management Association (MAT).’

 

The announcement does not say that May MAT 2017 exam scores are not acceptable in CAP 2017 for admission to JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA, K J Somaiya among others. It should imply that DTE Maharashtra would accept May MAT 2017 exam scores in CAP 2017 for MBA admission in all the top ranked colleges also.

 

May MAT: Last chance to get JBIMS

The candidates appearing in MAT 2017 May exam should accordingly focus on their preparation as they can also get admission to highly ranked JBIMS Mumbai through CAP round 2017 on the basis of their MAT 2017 exam scores.

 

7 got JBIMS with MAT score

Interestingly, out of 139 students who got admission in JBIMS for MMS 2016-18, while there was only 1 candidate who got admission on the basis of CAT or XAT exam, there were 7 candidates with 99.99 percentile in MAT/ATMA who got admission in JBIMS, Mumbai last year. 5 candidates could get admission in JBIMS on the basis of their CMAT scores. Rest 126 candidates got admission in JBIMS on the basis of MAH-CET, GMAT and other exam scores.

  

CAP  round 2017  

The CAP is the counseling process and is the final selection round for allotment of seats in the Maharashtra MBA colleges. Your MAHCET exam scores or CAT/MAT/XAT/CMAT exam scores will award you a merit position in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) for all the 400+ MBA colleges including JBIMS, SIMSREE, N L Dalmiya, K J Somaiya, PUMBA among others.

 

On the basis of your merit position you will be allotted a seat in the MBA college in order of your preference which you have filled up for CAP round. You need to make sure that all the system and procedures for DTE-CAP 2017 are followed by you to get admission to your preferred MBA college in Maharashtra.

 

CAP 2017: Apply in May

The registration and application process for Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017 is expected to open in the 1st week of May 2017. If you had appeared for MAHCET 2017 the application fee to participate in CAP 2017 could be low to Rs.1000/- else it could be Rs.2000/- or so.

 

55000 seats against 88177 candidates

There are 88177 candidates who have appeared in MAHCET 2017 exam and scored non-zero positive marks apart from the candidates who wish to apply in CAP 2017 with other exam scores. The number therefore could go much above 1 lakh applicants who are waiting for the DTE-CAP 2017 to open.

 

44000 MBA/MMS seats and 11000 PGDM seats are available for admission in MBA colleges in Maharashtra through DTE-Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017 counselling. Out of this huge number of intake, around 10000 seats in Maharashtra MBA colleges are reserved for All India Candidates (Outside Maharashtra State candidates).

There are around 400 MBA colleges of Maharashtra and all these MBA colleges will offer admission through DTE – CAP round 2017. Accordingly, the final admission and allotment of MBA seat in JBIMS, SIMSREE, PUMBA, N L Dalmiya, Dy Patil among other top MBA colleges will be based on Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra in the month of May 2017.
