AIMA conducted on line MAT in different time slots of 150 minutes each on May 10, 2014 across the country. Since there were a few thousands who took the test, it is unlikely that any further date would be announced for the on line test . AIMA has already stated If the number of candidates registered for Computer Based Test is limited and can be accommodated in a single day; the test will be completed on 10 May 2014 itself.
Management Aptitude Test (MAT) in paper pencil mode was conducted on May 4, 2014 across the country. Mat is taken by an approximate number of 20 thousand candidates. Test pattern in Online test remained more or less at the same difficulty level as shared by MBAUniverse.com in its MAT May 2014 series.
Candidates were already given the option of either to appear in paper pencil mode or Online test. No candidate therefore could appear in the Online test, if he/she already appeared in paper pencil mode.
The computer based test was held in different time slots throughout the day. The computer based test was conducted at different venues than the ones where paper pencil mode test was conducted.
Division of Online MAT May 10, 2014
Each section in online MAT on May 10, 2014 was divided in following 5 sections with 40 MCQs in each. Each question carried 1 mark and marks was the penalty for each wrong answer. Time duration to solve the test was 150 minutes in all.
MBAUniverse.com had already suggested the time limit to solve questions in each section and those who followed it did better in the on line mode as they could attempt more number of questions with better accuracy.
To get latest updates on MAT MAY 2014 exam Results,Click Here Mathematical Skills: This section had around 22 questions based on Arithmetic like Interest, Percentages, Time and Work, Averages Percentage. The questions were a little time consuming although were moderately difficult. This section was attempted better by those who practised more. Higher percentile would be waiting for those candidates who did this section well.
Language comprehension section had 12 questions based on jumbled words and picking odd man out of them, inserting correct words to fill in the blanks, vocabulary words to pick out correct synonyms-antonyms,. The 5 short comprehension passages were followed by 4 questions each. Other questions were based on jumbled sentences, basic grammar corrections, main idea of paragraphs. Except a few questions they were moderately difficult and could be answered in time.
Data analysis and Sufficiency had maximum questions on data interpretation. More prominent in this section were Pie charts, bar diagrams, charts, line graph, data comparison. Time remained the main factor to solve these questions with speed and accuracy.
Intelligence and critical reasoning had questions on calendar, distribution, assertions reasons, blood relations, analogies, direction, series. The section was a little lengthy with moderate level of difficulty.
Questions in Indian and Global environment section were based on conventional GK, business and economics, current affairs, although this section would not count for calculation of percentile. Time limit of 15 minutes would be sufficient to complete this section.
How much percentile Admission to good B schools out of the list of 380 B schools available at the AIMA site can only be explored with a percentile as high as 90+. Those who have already registered for MAHCET CAP round and wish to explore admission possibilities in the top rated b school like JBIMS, SIMSREE, KJ Somaiya etc. need to reach somewhere between 99 to 100 percentile
