MAH CET 2015: Practice Test out: take the test and mark the changes in the exam pattern

Just before 10 days to MAHCET 2015, DTE Maharashtra has enabled the 20 question practice test for the exam. In contrast to 95 sample questions provided for MAHCET 2014, the practice test shared by Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra on March 5, 2015 for MAHCET 2015 contains only 20 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs). MAHCET 2015 is to be conducted on March 14 & 15, 2015 and just 10 days are left for the exam.

MAHCET 2015 aspirants have anxiously been waiting for the practice exam right from the beginning. DTE usually shares the practice test for MAHCET along with the registration and application form. This is the first time that the practice test has not been made available with the opening of MAHCET registration process. Thousands of MAHCET 2015 aspirants who have been approaching MBAUniverse.com and DTE Maharashtra regarding the delay in making live the practice Test have taken a sigh of relief with the availability of MAHCET 2015 practice test today.

Type of questions in Demo test

The mock online demo test made available for MAHCET 2015 aspirants contains variety of questions on all the 3 sections of the exam. There are questions on Quantitative Aptitude Data interpretation; Logical and Abstract reasoning; Verbal Ability. However probably due to paucity of space, questions on Reading Comprehension passages have not been shared in the Demo test.

The demo test has to be solved in 20 minutes and has been named as MAH-MBA/MMS-CET 2015-Practice exam.

Actual Test to have 200 questions

Although the demo test has 20 MCQs the actual test will have 200 MCQs and the entire exam will have to be attempted in an overall time limit of 150 minutes (2 hours 30 minutes). The test will not have any negative marking. The number of questions per section are not fixed and may have equal or different proportion.

4 Answer options in MAHCET 2015

There will be 4 answer options for each question in MAHCET 2015 exam as against 5 answer options in MAHCET 2014. This will help the test takers to save their time which was wasted on going through 5 answer options. Now the correct answer option could be chosen more accurately.

Important Instructions to take MAHCET 2015

DTE Maharashtra has specifically instructed the candidates not to carry any personal belonging to the test centre. The items required and will be allowed to the test centre are your Admit card, Pen and ID proof.

The pen will be required to sign in the space provided in the attendance sheet before the invigilator.

The candidate as well as the invigilator has to sign on the Admit Card in each others presence and the admit card has to be handed over to the invigilator after the attendance is taken.

In case there is any issue with the computer system allotted to you, please immediately inform the invigilator, so that new system can be arranged. All the answers marked by you will be saved and the test will begin from the point where you have left it.

Expected type of question in MAHCET 2015

Going by the shared practice test and past trend in MAHCET exams, Prof S K Agarwal Verbal Ability Expert and mentor on MAHCET 2015 preparation anticipates following types of questions in different sections of MAHCET 2015

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension

Verbal Ability & Reading Comprehension is expected to have major share in number of questions in MAHCET 2015 exam. A candidate may expect around 80 questions in this section. It is expected that there would be around 40 questions in Verbal Ability and critical reasoning and 36-40 on Reading comprehension.

Major topics on which the questions are expected in this section are locating the grammatical errors in sentences and paragraphs; Fill in the blanks; Jumbled paragraphs of different types; completion of a paragraph by choosing the last sentence or the first sentence of the para; Idioms & Proverbs; Figures of speech; inserting the correct phrasal verb; Fill in the blanks with correct words and prepositions; choosing the right Synonyms and Antonyms.

The reading Comprehension passages could be of 2 types- short and long. The short passages could be only 50-60 words long followed by Fill in the blank type questions based on vocabulary usage and grammatical errors. Long passages could be of around 500 words followed by 10-12 questions. The questions on passages are expected to be of moderate difficulty level with direct reference to the passage contents.

Logical Reasoning

Questions in this section are expected more on Number series; Alpha and Alpha-numeral series; Blood Relations; data sufficiency statements; True & false statements; Assumptions; rows; picking the odd man out; Decoding the coded word Alphabets; Completion of letter series; anomalies and so on.

Quantitative Aptitude & Data Interpretation

Arithmatic, Algebra & Geometry; all the 3 are going to play an important role in Quant section in MAHCET 2015 exam. Questions are expected on Average, Compound interest, Cube, percentage, time-speed & distance, Ratio & Proportion, profit & loss among other topics.

Questions in Data Interpretation section are expected in group form. The problem sets could be based on Graphs, tabular data, pie charts, bar diagrams. If you know well how to compare and interpret the data, you could ace this section. One problem set in DI may be followed by 5-6 questions.

4 coloured boxes to indicate the status of questions

MAHCET 2015 exam will have 4 coloured boxes on lower right hand side of computer screen. The green colour box will indicate the number of questions you have attempted; Orange colour box will indicate the questions marked for review; Violet colour box will show the un-attempted and marked for review questions and the White colour box will indicate all un-attempted questions.

Navigation tools in MAHCET 2015

There will be 3 navigation tools in MAHCET 2015 exam.

If you are not sure about the answer of the question you can click on the button Mark for review. This will enable you to come back later to the question and attempt it.

If you have marked some wrong answer, you can click on unmark. This will clear your answer to the respective question. Now you can mark fresh answer.

When you complete the test, click on End exam button. Although you would use this button only after the complete test is attempted and it is also advisable to attempt as many questions as possible since there is no negative marking in MAHCET 2015, you should remember that this button is supposed to be clicked to save and submit all your answers.
