MAHCET 2015: 2 days to go; last chance to get into top B school; Know the tips to score high

The only difference in admission process 2015 is that JBIMS, Mumbai has been declared as an autonomous B school. The B school has its own admission application process now. For admission year commencing 2015 candidates were supposed to apply to JBIMS separately apart from registering for MAHCET 2015. The admission application at JBIMS closed on Jan 5, 2015. JBIMS will shortlist candidates based on their CAT 2014 or MH-CET 2015 scores. No other exam scores will be accepted for admission to JBIMS for resident Indians. All the shortlisted candidates will have to appear for an in-person assessment that may consist of a group activity, personal interview and written ability test to be held at Mumbai.
Advantage MAH CET: Dont skip
If you had scored high in All India Tests like CAT/XAT/CMAT, you would have decided in favour of your dream B school. But since you scored less than 95 percentile that too with low sectional percentile, you may not expect admission in a highly ranked college. MAH CET is the last opportunity to revise your scores upwards to secure admission in top rated B schools in Maharashtra. The interesting part about MAH CET 2015 is that your best score will be taken into consideration.
More number of candidates got admission to JBIMS, SIMSREE and other excellent B schools having a ranking among top 10 or top 20 on the basis of MAHCET-2014 scores. According to Prof S K Agarwal, mentor on MAHCET preparation, aspirants scoring 155+ in MAHCET 2015 may expect a seat in JBIMS and with no negative marking you have fair chances to score high.
Practice more to score high
200 MCQs in MAH CET 2015 are to be solved in two and half hours. There is no negative marking so the guesses can also be applied at some places. However too many guesses may create bad impression and might affect adversely in Centralised Admission Process of DTE Maharashtra in allocation of the institutes.

Questions on Error corrections in Sentences there can be 8-10 questions of this type. The type of questions is similar to the one that appears in competitive examinations.
Questions on Vacabulary- Questions on vocabulary usage can be of fill in the blanks type, usage of similar and confusing words, synonyms, antonyms. It is better to practice more questions of these types to crack the exam.
Questions on Jumbled paragraphs- Jumbled sentences in MAHCET are not so tough as other exams. Sentences are simple and can be connected with little efforts so as to form a coherent paragraph. You may find 4-5 such questions of this type in this exam.
Reading comprehension passages in MAHCET-There can be 32 to 36 questions based on RC passages. If the RC passages are less, more questions (12-14) may follow each passage; if the number is more 8-10 questions could follow the passage. Passages are approximately of a length of 500 words, not very tough but questions could be on statements and their inferences, meaning of phrases and words as used in the passages.
Quantitative Aptitude
There can be 48-50 questions on quantitative aptitude and data interpretation in MAHCET 2015. Questions are although not difficult may turn out to be a little time consuming. Key expected topics on which quant questions could be based are Geometry-Lines, circles, triangles, quadrilaterals, Mensuration (area and volume of cylinder, cone, sphere); Algebra- simple equations, inequalities, simple functions and log; Arithmetic- Average, Percentages, Ratio, Interest, Time- Speed & Distance and Work, problems on basic Number System and Probability.
Reasoning
Logical and Abstract Reasoning in MAHCET will have more than 70 questions. Important topics to which questions are related in Reasoning section are Caselet, Analogies, Coding Decoding, Series Completion, Data Sufficiency, Inference based questions, statement- assumption or conclusion. Questions are designed to test your quick and accurate thought process.
To crack the questions in this section you will need to practice a little more. Concepts are simple but tricky which require natural human instincts with logical thought process.
This section has great importance in the test. Candidates from any stream may solve them and become a winner
MAHCET 2015: Good ROI MBA waiting
Fee for MBA/MMS in University affiliated and Private B schools in Maharashtra is not very high and is decided by the Shikshan Shulka Samiti in Maharashtra. Presently it is around Rs. 2 lacs for the entire course. The average placement package goes as high as 15-16 lacs depending upon the institute. When you calculate the Return on investment it is much better than most of the B schools in the same category
MAHCET 2015: More options available
Know well that MAH CET is easier than any other MBA entrance examination. More options will be available to you as seats through MAHCET 2015 are more than you can get through any other exam.
