Xavier School of Rural Management at Xavier University Bhubaneshwar hosted its annual flagship conclave, Abhivyakti on August 1, 2015. Abhivyakti is an endeavor to broaden the involvement of young budding manager with the industries best minds and to discuss viewpoints on the trending topics in the present Rural Management scenario. The conclave witnessed participation of eminent luminaries from various domains pertaining to rural India.

Prof. Kajri Misra, Dean, School of Rural Management, XUB delivered the inaugural speech and declared the commencement of the conclave. The conclave was conducted in two sessions and the topic of discussion for the first session was ‘Rural –the next growth destination’. The speakers for this session included Mr. Niranjan Bariyar, Odisha state nutrition coordinator, UNICEF, Mr. Hardeep Singh, Project Director, Rajeevika, Govt. of Rajasthan, Mr. Ashok Singha, MD, CTRAN Consuting(BASIX Group) and Mr. Ambika Prasa Mohanty, Team Leader, Eastern states Reliance Foundation.

The discussions on the first session, went through the untouched areas of rural management covering public health nutrition, mission, and strategies of Rajasthan Grameen Aajeevika Vikas Parishad (RGAVP), with emphasis on Digital transfer of money and Digitization of government policies and Schemes. Mr. Niranjan Bariyar, who is also an alumnus of XIMB, talked about Malnutrition and expressed concerns about the Health and Nutrition scenario of Odisha, referring to Stunting as “the Maker and Marker of unstainable development”. Further Mr. Ambika Mohanty went on to talk about the rural transformation initiative of “Bharat-India Jodo” by Reliance foundation. Mr. Hardeep Singh, focused on economic opportunities and empowerment of rural women and marginalized groups. Finally, Mr. Ashok Singha enlightened on the issues of Livelihood and Environment. The talk was moderated by Prof. Jeevan J Arakal, Faculty, School of Rural Management, XUB.

The theme of the second session was “Inclusive Growth & Digital Revolution”. The speakers for the session were Mr. Sushanta Tripathy, Executive Vice President, Yes Bank (ISB); Mrs. Chandrima Sinha, Director, IDFC Foundation; Mr. Prabhakar Lingareddy, Vice President (HR), ITC ABD. The panel discussion was moderated Prof. Subhajyoti Ray, Professor at XIMB.

The discussion was opened by Mr. Tripathy who talked about Financial Inclusion and the contribution of technology in the process. The next speaker, Mrs. Chandrima Sinha spoke about how the IDFC Foundation, the CSR cell of IDFC Ltd has been helping in nation building. The third speaker on the panel Mr. Prabhakar Lingareddy, based his speech on  “The reality beyond the numbers”. He enlightened the students on how ITC Ltd. created E-Choupal and the reasons of this successful endeavor. The panel discussion was followed by an interactive question and answer session. The session was summrized by the moderator, Professor Subhajyoti Ray and finally concluded with a vote of thanks by the Dean of the School of Rural Management, Mrs. Kajri Misra.

Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB) was established 28 years ago. XIMB is now Flagship B-School of Xavier University Bhubaneshwar (XUB). XUB was established in accordance with the Xavier University Act 2013 and was inaugurated on the 7th of July 2014.
