The last minute strategy how to best utilize the Mocks being taken by you for CAT 2016 preparation on the CAT day to improve your score in the exam, is shared by the past CAT toppers from IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, FMS Delhi, IIM Trichy, NITIE Mumbai.

IIM Bangalore student and CAT topper with 99.85 percentile, Ananth Radhakrishnan lays emphasis to anayle the mocks well. Sharing his experience how he utilized Mocks on CAT day, Ananth says “Analysing mock results to understand the topics I’m finding hard to manage, and when that step was climbed, finding the topics that were causing me to take too much time really helped. Another important thing is to make sure to not spend too much time on any one question, and to develop your own personal heuristic to judge that while attempting a question.”

Sharing last minute tips for CAT 2016 aspirants, Ananth says “Mock Tests are literally the biggest help you can get in your preparation. Considering your performance in CAT is relative, at the end of the day that can only be simulated through mocks. So I’d advise you to take Mocks seriously, and attempt them as you would in your final exam. Also important is to analyse your results post the exam, and then keep improving continuously.”

On how he felt on CAT day after taking so many mocks, Ananth suggests “One good thing about doing so many mocks was that by the time I took CAT, it literally felt like another mock test! Make sure to arrive early to the venue, and get enough sleep and rest the night before. And I really can’t emphasise it enough, there is no need to panic.”

Advising the CAT 2016 aspirants how they should use their Mock taking experience in CAT 2016 exam on December 4, Ananth shares “In terms of how to actually approach the exam, the kind of strategy you use would solely depend on what you are comfortable with. Also, last-minute preparation would be only mocks over the last 2-3 weeks. Do not bother yourself too much with anything on the last night.”

Removes Surprise element: Siddharth R., IIM Indore
Siddharth R. with 99.61 percentile in CAT and IIM Indore student shares that taking mocks will provide tremendous help and says “I had taken enough mock tests in advance so I knew that almost nothing could surprise me. I kept track of time and kept a level head while solving the paper.”

Sharing key benefits you could reap on CAT day after taking mocks, he says “A candidate must develop multiple strategies of test taking to account for all scenarios that could occur during an examination. This is the most important aspect because a lot of well-prepared candidates lose out due to stress during the exam. Taking multiple mock tests can help avoid this. Apart from that, mock tests help one to identify their strengths and weaknesses and give the candidates an idea of where to dedicate their time and effort.”

Amritansh Ahuja with 99.26 percentile in CAT 2015 and IIM Kozhikode student shares “Do a lot of mocks. And yes, don't forget to analyse mocks and your preparations as to where you stand.”

Preapre your body for real CAT 2016 exam: Shikhar Garg IIM Trichy
 IIM Tiruchirappali student and CAT topper with 98.79 percentile, Shikhar Garg suggests “Try to take mocks as if you are taking real CAT and choose the same testing hours for example if CAT test timing is 9AM to 12 noon and 2 pm to 5 PM, take mock during the similar hours. This will prepare your body to be active during these hours.”

Shikhar advises CAT 2016 aspirants “There is always a huge variance in the mock tests, please don’t worry about it and take one mock every day so that you get used to a 3 hour episode of stress.”

Synchronise Mock with CAT 2016 time slot: Vaibhav Gaur NITIE
Vaibhav Gaur with 99.51 percentile in CAT 2015 and NITIE student is also of the same view and advises “After getting CAT 2016 slot, synchronise your mocks as per your CAT slot so that your brain is a fully active in that time frame.

Sharing the last minute key tips, Vaibhav says “My advice would be to take mock as if you are appearing in  CAT 2016. Sit on a chair with your computer on a table in an environment with minimum disturbance. Try to complete the whole mock in one go.”

Since only 5 days are left for CAT 2016 exam which is on December 4, 2016, it is advisable that you should focus more on your strong areas, need not start anything new, analyse more what goes wrong while taking mocks and stop spending too much time on any topic or question.
