IIM Ahmedabad Placement 2017: Amazon, McKinsey, Goldman Sachs, PwC, Rivigo among top recruiters; process over in 3 clusters

IIM Ahmedabad has concluded the campus placement 2017 in 3 clusters with Amazon, McKinsey & Company, Goldman Sachs, PwC, American Express, RBL, Rivigo, Sprinklr, MobiKwik emerging as the top recruiters this year.
IIM Ahmedabad final placement 2017 witnessed more than 100 firms participating in the placement process. Besides 40 new recruiters made placement offers at the campus this year.

110 candidates for Dream Campus Applications
The concept of dream campus that began at IIM Ahmedabad 3 years ago continued this year also with 110 Applications received under Dream Application.
The placement process, with the concept of dream application, allowed students to choose the sectors and functions of their choice for their final placement. Students are provided with the flexibility of making a dream application to any firm of their choice even with an offer in hand. This gives students the freedom to build careers in sectors of their preference.

Key Placement Trends
Compensation statistics will be released by IIM Ahmedabad after 6 months in an audited report. As per the Indian Placement Reporting Standards (IPRS), introduced by IIM Ahmedabad, the IPRS report for Final Placements 2017 will be released 6 months from the date of graduation.

More than 100 firms participated in the placement process in 2017 including the laterals process. Companies from multiple sectors across different geographies hired candidates for a wide range of functions with more offers.
IIMA: Fostering Entrepreneurship
IIM Ahmedabad has encouraged students to take up entrepreneurship as a career and this year, 7 students opted out of the placement process to start their own ventures. The start-ups are in various sectors under the guidance of CIIE.
In line with its culture of fostering entrepreneurship, IIM Ahmedabad offered a placement holiday to these students, wherein they will be allowed to participate in placements in one of the next two years in the event that their venture does not work out.

2 stage 3 cluster placements 2017
Sharing the key highlights in the placement 2017 IIM Ahmedabad has clarified that the placement process for the graduating batch of the Post Graduate Programme (PGP) in Management was successfully completed within 3 clusters. The placements under Cluster 1 and Cluster 2 were conducted on February 14 and 16, respectively and the third and final cluster was held on February 19, 2017.

The placement process was conducted in two stages. The first was the laterals process where firms interviewed students with prior work experience and offered them mid-level managerial positions. More than 30 recruiters from diverse sectors of technology, consulting, pharmaceuticals and analytics made placement offers.

About 50% of the batch was eligible for lateral placements, which provided students an opportunity to optimally leverage their work experience. The laterals process included firms from diverse sectors such as Analytics, Banking & Financial Services, Management Consulting, Consumer Services, Internet & E-commerce, Pharmaceuticals and Technology. Firms which participated in the laterals process included Aditya Birla Group, Amazon, C.K. Birla, Mahindra & Mahindra among others
The second stage was the final placement process where firms were grouped into cohorts based on the profile offered, and groups of cohorts were invited to campus across different clusters.

Sectoral Placement
Consulting
Recruiters in the consulting space included global strategy consulting and niche consulting firms. McKinsey & Co was the top recruiter making the highest number of 15 offers in the consulting domain. Other top recruiters included Accenture Strategy, A.T. Kearney, Bain & Co., McKinsey & Co., Oliver Wyman, PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) among others.

BFSI
The Banking & Financial Services sector witnessed participation from global investment banks, which included Goldman Sachs, Citibank, Credit Suisse, Deutsche Bank, JP Morgan, Kotak, Standard Chartered among others. Goldman Sachs was the largest recruiter making 9 offers.

American Express, FinIQ, Fullerton and RBL were other top recruiters in the Banking, Financial Services & Insurance sector.

Sales & Marketing
A large number of students at IIM Ahmedabad took up roles in Sales & Marketing in various companies that included Airtel, Asian Paints, HUL, ITC, Nestle, P&G, Reckitt Benckiser among others.
HUL was the top recruiter with 7 offers followed by Procter & Gamble, SC Johnson and Samsung, with 6 offers each.

General Management
General Management and Leadership profiles were offered to students by Aditya Birla Group, Tata Administrative Services, C.K. Birla and Mahindra & Mahindra.
In the General Management domain, TAS (Tata Administrative Service) was the largest recruiter in the general management area.
The Enterprise Tech and Consumer Tech cohorts saw participation from firms like MobiKwik, Rivigo, among others.

E-commerce & IT
In the Internet & e-commerce and technology sector, Amazon made 18 offers and emerged as top e-commerce recruiter. Students secured roles in technology sector firms such as EXL which extended the highest number of 6 offers in the technology cluster. Other top recruiters included Rivigo, Sprinklr, MobiKwik among others.

The cluster-cohort system is unique to IIM-A. It is meant to encourage students to consider career choices based on role and sector. The dream applications process allows a student to sit for 5 more companies after securing an offer. The cluster-cohort system has also helped to host recruiters in a fair and transparent manner leading to stronger relationships between IIM-Ahmedabad and the recruiter community.
