DTE Maharashtra gets C. Oak as new Director: MAHCET CAP counselling 2017 may see changes in admission process

With the appointment of Chandrashekhar Oak as the Director of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra, it is anticipated that some changes may take place in the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) round 2017 for admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 in Mumbai, Pune MBA colleges as well as in other cities MBA colleges including the top B-schools like JBIMS, SIMSREE, SIMSR, PUMBA among others.
Chandrashekhar Oak, a senior IAS officer has resumed charge as Director, DTE Maharashtra on March 20, 2017. Mr Oak has been actively associated with DTE Maharashtra in past also. He was Commissioner State CET Cell, Maharashtra till August 2016 and was incharge of admissions to all the professional courses in Maharashtra institutes. He was transferred to Election commission in September 2016 after the controversy and chaos in medical and law admissions in Maharashtra colleges erupted.
Interestingly, Mr Oak has been given additional charge of Director DTE Maharashtra. For the past 8 years Dr S K Mahajan, IAS has been the Director Incharge of Directorate of Technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra. Dr Mahajan has been demoted by the Maharashtra Government and has been given the charge of Joint Director in Directorate of technical Education (DTE) Maharashtra.
Known for his cautious move and innovative approach, it is expected that Mr Chandrashekhar Oak may bring about some changes in the MAHCET CAP 2017 for admission to MBA/MMS 2017-19 in the B-schools in Maharashtra.
DTE Maharashtra is about to announce the dates for MBA CAP 2017 round and would also open the registration process for Centralized Admission process shortly. The CAP 2017 is expected to be conducted in the last week of May. However, with the appointment of new Director, DTE Maharashtra, change in CAP 2017 dates may not be ruled out.
44000 MBA/MMS seats and 11000 PGDM seats are available for admission in MBA colleges in Maharashtra through CET-Centralized Admission Process (CAP) 2017 counselling. Out of this huge number of intake, around 10000 seats in Maharashtra MBA colleges are reserved for All India Candidates (Outside Maharashtra State candidates). Accordingly, the final admission and allotment of MBA seat in JBIMS and other top MBA colleges will be based on Centralized Admission Process (CAP) to be conducted by DTE Maharashtra in the month of May 2017.
CAP is the counseling process and is the final selection round for allotment of seats in the Maharashtra MBA colleges. On the basis of your merit position you will be allotted a seat in the MBA college in order of your preference which you have filled up for CAP round.
