Many B-schools which were ranked among top 10 last year have gone down below 20th position in the NIRF Ranking 2017 while those which were much below the top 20 ranking positions have climbed the ladder and have improved their rankings in 2017.

According to the National institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) Rankings 2017 IIM Ahmedabad has emerged as the top B-school while IIM Bangalore running close to the number 1 position, has narrowly missed the 1st rank by only 0.14 score. IIM Calcutta is at 3rd position with a score of 76.60.

FMS Delhi: Not Ranked
One of the highly ranked, high RoI and most preferred MBA colleges in India, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS)-University of Delhi has not been separately been ranked among management institutes or colleges. It appears that FMS Delhi has been ranked with overall ranking positions for Universities with University of Delhi which has been ranked at the 8th position.

IIFT Delhi: Shifted from University to Management Institute
Correcting the status of Indian Institute of Foreign Trade (IIFT) Delhi from University category to the Management Institute, MHRD has ranked this top MBA institute at # 30. Last year IIFT was ranked among the Universities instead of management institutes.

Claiming that the Ranking Frameworks are similar, the exact methodologies adopted by MHRD are domain specific. Apart from ranking all the colleges, institutes and universities overall, the Ranking methods have been worked out for 5 categories of institutions namely Engineering, Management, Pharmacy, Universities and Colleges.
