NMIMS NMAT 2014 beats slowdown; gets 58000 test takers

Even as the CAT 2013 numbers dipped to 1.96 lakh test takers, a drop of 10 % against last years registration of 2.14 lakhs, there is no dip in NMIMS NMAT 2014 registration figure. According to NMIMS, the NMAT registrations on October 1, 2013 were approximately 58,000, against last year number of 69,000. There are four days still remaining to register, as the NMAT registrations close on the midnight of October 4.

One of the reasons for NMAT numbers remaining stable is higher test-takers from South India, particularly Bangalore and Hyderabad, both combined have 13% share in NMAT registrations.

Further analysis of the current NMAT registration data throws up interesting trends. Almost half of the pool has work experience and most of them hold technical or managerial positions. As many as 67% of the registered candidates are engineers followed by 20% from commerce stream. The highest number of candidates is from North region with 37% share of NMAT 2014 registrations followed by Maharashtra & West region with 32% share.
Commenting on the trend, Dr. Rajan Saxena, Vice Chancellor, NMIMS University said, While the NMAT 2014 registration are expected to remain around the same as of the last year, yet it is a positive signal that NMIMS MBA remains the top preference among the largest pool of candidates for any single B-School. He added, In the wake of declining trends at national and global level for MBA, it is the strong value of NMIMS MBA and strong industry linkages that keeps intact the trust of aspirants.
