Delhi School of Economics and students of Master of Human Resource and Organizational Development & Master of International Business (MHROD-MIB) jointly organized Erudition 2013 on Business Sustainability-Emerging Realities. MBAUniverse.com was one of the online sponsor to this two day event, held on September 27 and 28, 2013.
The 18th Annual Business Convention aimed to bridge the gap between HR thought leaders, management gurus and members of academia by building a platform for the corporate and future managers to increase their network, share the insights of the industry and create the leaders of tomorrow through the brainstorming session between the leaders of today and future leaders.
Prof. Dinesh Singh, Vice Chancellor, University of Delhi; Mr. Rajnish Datta, Sr. President - Human Capital Management Consumer & Business Bank, Yes Bank; Mr. Diwakar Puri, Head Talent Sourcing & HR Systems Corp HRM & CPSF, Hero MotoCorp; Dr. Saumya Kanti Ghosh, Chief Economic Advisor, SBI; Mr. RK Sharma, Head of Exports, Nestle India; Mr. Rajiv Bajaj, CFO, Panasonic etc. were some of the speakers at the event.
Erudition, the name defines the purpose of the event i.e. giving an opportunity of enlightenment and intensive learning. The two day event comprised different panel discussions. On day 1, it was on Finance, Marketing and International Business, whereas on day 2, the discussion was devoted to Human Resources.
On both the days, keeping in mind the theme of convention, professionals from the respective domains talked about business sustainability, HR Outsourcing, Geo-political Stability A challenge for MNCs, HRThe Strategic Pioneer and Financial Pandemonium among others.
On the first day, the first panel discussion embossed the talk with the financial and international aspects of business sustainability. They stretched the talk by explaining the importance of social governance issues, implying the recent focus of investors and financial bodies. They discussed on the ideas of financial institutions in the country and the financial incapability of aam aadmi(Common Citizens) and they discussed about the sensitive points related to this. The problems stated were not the unavailability of resources but a lack of knowledge that hinders most aspects of business sustainability.
In addition to that, the second panel discussion took a path related to the economic crisis. Panelists stressed upon the independent relation of economy woe and innovation in the upcoming era. Pertaining to the perennial fall in the market image, the talks turned to solve the Indian tool Jugad. The panelists brought tried and tested ideologies on table from the corporate who have struggled their way to reach the top of organizations.
On the second consecutive day, they discussed about the various issues related to HR i.e. HR Outsourcing, Work-life balance, HR Outsourcing and stressed on the topic that HR department should design its policies with respect to satisfy the social needs of the employees. Finally, the discussion ended with the thought that HR should play a vital role in the organization and should act as the strategic partner in the organization.

In 1967, Department of Commerce was set up as a separate entity. The Department of Commerce started two post-graduate professional programmes in the year 1995 i.e. Master of International Business (MIB) and Master of Human Resource and Organizational Development (MHROD).
