NITIE Mumbai holds Golden Jubilee Celebrations

NITIE announced that two new Post Graduate Programs in Manufacturing Management and Project Management would be commencing from next academic year.
NITIE conferred Most Inspiring Entrepreneur award to Mr. Pramod Chaudhari and Lakshya Business Visionary Award to Shri B.Prasad Rao.

To make its 50 glorious Years of Industrial excellence meaningful, National Institute of Industrial Engineering (NITIE), Mumbai organized series events which will continue over the next two years. To begin with the celebrations a formal inauguration of the Golden jubilee celebrations was from Oct 18 2013 to October 25, 2013. MBAUniverse.com was the official online media partner of the event.

On this occasion, Prof. (Ms) Karuna Jain, Director, NITIE Mumbai announced that two new Post Graduate Programs in “Manufacturing Management” and “Project Management” would be commencing from next academic year

A 16 storey new hostel building and new academic and library building was inaugurated by Mr. B. Prasad Rao, CMD, BHEL and Ms. Amita Sharma, Additional Secretary, Technical Education, MHRD respectively on October 22 as a part of the inaugural function of the Golden Jubilee celebrations.

Many distinguished guests also took part in the occasion including Prof Jahar Saha, former Director, IIM Ahmedabad, Mr. Gautam Thapar, Chairman, Board of Governors, NITIE and others. Various other events like Lakshya, Prerana, Empressario, Arohan and Josh were also organized for the students.

During the Lakshya event “Lakshya Business Visionary Awards” was awarded to B.Prasad Rao, CMD, BHEL and Babasaheb Kalyani, CMD, Kalyani Group for exemplary vision and extraordinary leadership. 

Every year NITIE Mumbai felicitates “Empressario Entrepreneur Awards” to entrepreneurs who make a mark for themselves. The award for the “Most Inspiring Entrepreneur” was conferred upon Mr. Pramod Chaudhari, Executive Chairman, PRAJ Industries. “Most Promising Entrepreneur Award” was conferred upon Mr. Mangesh Kale, Chairman and co-founder, Precision Automation and Robotics Ltd.

A panel discussion was also held on the topic “Road Map for Developing Manufacturing Competitiveness by 2025”. The session was chaired by Gautam Thapar, Chairman, Board of Governors, and NITIE. Other panelists and experts including B Prasad Rao – CMD, BHEL; Dr. Rakesh Sinha, COO (Global Supply chain, Manufacturing and IT), Godrej Consumers Products Ltd and Prof. Jahar Saha, Former Director, IIM Ahmedabad along with Prof. Karuna Jain, Director, NITIE Mumbai  were present on this occasion.

The discussion covered various aspects of the related topic like the contribution of manufacturing sector towards GDP of the country, improving the technological depth, environmentally sustainable products and changing the attitude of workers in manufacturing industries.

Another flagship event of Avartan 2013, “Prerna Business Meet” was organized on October 23rd on the theme of “The Path to Becoming a Developed Nation: Manufacturing or Services?” The meet provided insights about the importance of integrating the strengths of Indian service sector with manufacturing sector and leverage it to pave the path for country’s development.

In addition to this, Annual Financial Conclave on the theme “The 18 month Roadmap for Banking and Financial Sector” was held in presence of many eminent personalities like,  Anirban Lahiri, CEO-GMC, Deutsche Bank; Sujan Sinha, MD and CEO; Mr. Shriram Housing Finance; C Jayaram, Joint MD, Kotak Mahindra and others.

Various case study competitions of different streams of management for students from the best B-schools across the country were also organized.

NITIE Mumbai was established in the year 1963 by Government of India with a mission to raise productivity of Indian industry and optimum utilization of resources. NITIE Mumbai currently runs four full time Post Graduate programmes along with a fellowship programme equivalent to Ph.D. Apart from Training and Management, NITIE is engaged in industrial consultancy, sponsors projects, applied research and social events.
