CAT 2013 Day12 first session is over. According to students, Quantitative section was moderate difficulty level while Data Interpretation was very calculation intensive. This article brings you the analysis of the first session.
DI was very calculative. The questions on bar graph and one on IIMs required a lot of calculation. LR was easy though and even verbal ability too

The first session for CAT 2013 Day 12 on October 30, got over this afternoon at 1.00 PM. MBAUniverse.com editorial team was present on many centers in New Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida and spoke to students for their first reaction. According to students, Quantitative section was moderate difficulty level while Data Interpretation was very calculation intensive. Verbal section was easy including Logical Reasoning.

Saurabh at Noida test centre said, “DI was very calculative. The questions on bar graph and one on IIMs required a lot of calculation. LR was easy though and even verbal ability too.”

Another test takers of CAT 2013 Day 12 first session, Vishvendra at the same test centre said, “Geometry had the max question in my set and there was no P&C. I attempted 17 questions in Quant and 24 in verbal section.” 

Let us have a look at the question types in the sections:

Quantitative Ability: Moderate in difficulty level
The Quantitative Ability area had maximum questions from Geometry while Permutation and Combination (P&C) was missing from various students’ question set. Rests of the questions were from other usual topics such as Arithmetic, Trigonometry,   Mensuration, Time Speed & Distance, Number system, etc.

Data Interpretation: Calculation intensive
Various students of CAT 2013 day 12 first session said that DI was very calculation intensive and required a lot of time to solve. Questions were based on Bar graph and tables.

Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning: easy in difficulty level
The Verbal Ability questions were termed as easy by the candidates. Verbal Section covered questions from all topics like Reading Comprehension, Para Jumble, Vocabulary, Error correction in paragraph, identifying the Out of Context sentences. Passages were in between 600-650 words and were easy to understand with direct questions. Passages were survey based.

The Logical Reasoning questions in CAT 2013 Day 12 were very easy as per the students. Questions were based on family tree and sequencing.

CAT 2013 result is scheduled to be announced on Tuesday, January 14, 2014. CAT 2013 candidates can view their results on MBAUniverse.com with their roll number, username and password. The CAT 2013 result score card will be valid between January 14, 2014 and December 31, 2014.
