An error has been detected in one question, in a DI item, during the morning exam of Oct 28th. This single question publishing error impacts 2.5% of candidates.

Prometric India, the agency which conducts Common Admission Test (CAT 2013) on behalf of the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) has informed the MBAUniverse.com that indeed one DI question in the test paper of October 28 (Test 1), 2013, had an error, as reported by MBAUniverse.com the same day.

Responding to the MBAUniverse.com query, Prometric said, “An error has been detected in one question, in a DI item in CAT 2013, during the morning exam of Oct 28th. This single question publishing error impacts 2.5% of CAT 2013 candidates.”

‘’While the error is small and limited in scope, we are taking every precaution to ensure a fair testing process for all candidates’’, informed prometric.

MBAUniverse.com was the first media platform to report about the DI error on day 10 after interviewing a few students just after the test who said that one of the questions in Data Interpretation section was incomplete. Sudeep, a test taker at Noida Test centre said, “One of the 3 sets of DI had a question with tables but the question was incomplete as Ratios were not given which was necessary to solve the question. I first tried to solve but realized that I have wasted my time. I don’t know how I would be marked on the wrong DI question?"

Now that Prometric has accepted the error, how will IIMs deal with this? Prometric said, “We are taking remedial actions to ensure a fair score for all candidates.” However, MBAUniverse.com’s query to Prometric India about whether it implies that the particular question having error will not be used for scoring the candidate remains unanswered till the time of writing this report.

Prometric however said, “We are taking remedial actions to ensure a fair score for all CAT 2013 candidates.”
