IIM Udaipur students interacted with students of National University of Singapore and shared their knowledge and ideas about citizenship and community engagement.

IIM Udaipur students got an opportunity to interact with students from College of Alice and Peter Tan, National University of Singapore (NUS), who visited Udaipur on December 14 and December 15, 2013 as a part of study tour to enhance their knowledge about citizenship and community engagement.

A group of 10 PGP-1 students from IIM Udaipur helped them to gain a deeper insight into the rich Indian culture. During the two-day interaction, rounds of discussions on various topics between the students took place. These discussion rounds were very interesting and very engaging due to cultural variation and different backgrounds.

On Day 1, the IIM Udaipur students accompanied the NUS students for sight-seeing and an excursion in the old parts of the City. The group exchanged views on the differences in the education systems, tourism, culture, and the political will in their respective countries.

Day 2 commenced with a 6 hour trek across the Aravalli hills. This day saw deeper discussions into topics pertinent to India, like poverty, importance of democracy, government schemes and their effectiveness, healthcare, expected results of upcoming Lok-Sabha elections, etc.

Students from NUS communicated that this activity proved to be an important milestone in their global immersion program and helped them to gain a different perspective on various subjects’ experiences with the IIM Udaipur students.

This 2-day tour ended with a promise to remain connected and build future partnerships that can help students from both the communities.
