XAT 2014 Mock tests: Gear up and attempt the comprehensive mock

Moving forward in the direction, a full length model test for XAT 2014 takers with answers explained in detail has been prepared by experts and is now placed on site for practice. Since a few days are left to this important management entrance test and the candidates stand fairly prepared for the same, taking as many mocks as possible will be an added advantage.

Key features of the Test
The questions in the test are formed as per the XAT syllabus and keeping in mind the probable topics. XAT which is a paper pen mode test has a little different syllabus and accordingly the questions on these topics have slightly different composition from CAT.

Since the mock test is being placed on line while XAT questions are to be answered by circling the right option on OMR sheet, the aspirants are advised to keep a dummy OMR sheet with them and go on answering the questions by opting for the most appropriate option. Candidates are supposed to mark their answers with ball point pen on OMR sheet. Ink or gel pens are not allowed.

Essay Writing in Mock
There is a full length 20 minutes Essay Writing Test and the topic for the same is Corruption is the root cause of social and economic woes in India. Aspirants should write an essay on this topic in paper pen mode and find out the mistakes committed to it. A model essay on the topic will be published by MBAUniverse.com shortly; candidates may cross check the same. Please remember to write a well worded essay, poor writing skill may bleak your chances in final selection round as the questions in PI round will be based on the topic. Apart from good subject knowledge, aspirants are supposed to have a flair for writing which should be neat also. Essay may be anywhere between 300-400 words with rich in contents. This writing piece should have logical and coherent flow of ideas with one idea in one paragraph.

Duration
Entire mock is to be attempted within given time frame of 140 minutes without any break. It is advisable to take the test when you are free from rest of the things without referring anything from anywhere. The test has been designed on the pattern of XAT and it is expected that the aspirants will make the best use of the same. You may cross check the answers and calculate your score accordingly.

Changing face of XAT
XAT has been placing variable number of questions with differential marking system during past three years. There were 101 questions in 2011; 85 in 2012 and 91 in 2013, divided in three sections of Verbal & Logical Ability; Decision making; Quantitative Ability. The time allotted was from 120 to 140 minutes to solve these questions. It however stabilized in 2013 when all the XAT questions carried equal marks. The same pattern is expected this year and the mock has been prepared accordingly.

Penalty for wrong answer

XAT penalises by one fourth mark, candidates may deduct one fourth mark for every wrong answer out of the total marks scored. All the questions carry equal marks i.e. 1 for every correct answer.

Role of General Awareness and Essay Writing Test
XAT has sectional cut-off but its General Awareness and Essay Writing sections do not account for percentile calculation in written test. Similarly you may keep both these parts out for calculating your score.
