XIME, ABBS, KAABS to host Asia Pacific meet on Revisiting the MBA

Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship, Bangalore in collaboration with Karnataka Association of Autonomous Business Schools is organizing an international conference on Revisiting the MBA, in the Asia Pacific Context on January 30-31, 2014.

In a bid to highlight the appeal of Business education in the Asia Pacific region, Xavier Institute of Management & Entrepreneurship (XIME), Bangalore in collaboration with Karnataka Association of Autonomous Business Schools (KAABS) is organizing aninternational conference on Revisiting the MBA, in the Asia Pacific ContextonJanuary 30-31, 2014. This conference is being organised to celebrate the fifth anniversary of the founding of The Association of BRICS B Schools (ABBS).

This is the first of its kind conference in the Asia-Pacific region which will include some outstandingdeans and directorsfrom countries such as Australia, Bangladesh, China, Japan, Malaysia, Russia, South Korea, Thailand, USA, Vietnam and India.

Talking about the main thrust of the conferenceProf. J.Philip, President, XIME said thatit will bring together a number of leading management academicians and thinkers from the Asia-Pacific region to examine whether the American model of MBA could continue to work effectively in the Asia-Pacific context, or, is there a need to work on alternative models keeping in mind the culture, the stage of economic development and social issues?

This international seminar will be built on country papers from leading countries of the Asia Pacific region. Eminent personalities who would be presenting their papers include, Prof Evan J Douglas, Griffith Business School, Gold Coast Queensland; Prof Dr M. While talking to MBAUniverse.com about the significance of the theme Revisiting MBA in the Asia Pacific Context,Prof. J.Philip said, Our seminar will situate MBA specifically in the Asia Pacific context. Through various country presentations it will examine the current status of management education in the region in terms of prevailing trends, demands made on the programme by business, government, faculty and students and issues that need to be addressed to ensure continuing value and validity for the programme in the light of Asian countries needs.

Informing thatAssociation of BRICS Business Schools (ABBS) was founded at the initiative of XIME and a few well known B-Schools in Russia, China, Brazil and South Africa, Prof Philip said that the association is founded on the premise that BRICS share similar interests and approaches in regard to management education. Among these is a realization that business schools in BRICS would benefit enormously from partnership and shared learning.

ABBS has organized several conferences over the last four years. The themes have included global economic situation, management education and entrepreneurship.

On the occasion XIME will also be organizing a students forum onJanuary 31, 2014with an objective of providing a platform for students belonging to business schools affiliated to the Association of BRICS B-Schools (ABBS) and the Karnataka Association of Autonomous Business Schools (KAABS), to present research papers on any aspect of management including the themes like Entrepreneurship, Supply Chain Management, Green Environment and Evolving trends in Management Education.
