IIM Kashipur girls win seats at Dubai global leadership program

IIM Kashipur girl students named Aakriti Goyal, Sherry Singh and Vibha Garg will travel to Dubai coming March to participate at the annual global event Insight Dubai being organized by Faculty of Business, Dubai Womens College. They have won the global competition to win seats at the event. 75 female students from universities around the world have been selected to attend the 5-day meet on 23-27, March 2014 to discuss issues of common interest, undertake field trips and participate in many other activities. It will be a great opportunity to understand new cultures and backgrounds and interact with different nationalities.

Prof Gautam Sinha, Director of the Institute, congratulated the students on their achievement and said that IIM Kashipur will support them in order to make sure they realize their business leadership goals. He further said that participation in such event for girl students will be a regular feature of the Institute in coming years so that the girl students gain additional advantage from global contexts while not neglecting general leadership development.Institute will place particular emphasis on addressing womens needs and women prepare for top management and board positions in future by improving their performance and effective leadership skill when they are in our course Dr Sinha emphasized.

Prof Baharul Islam, Chair, Center for Public Policy and Government at IIM Kashipur, has initiated this drive to mentor a group of future women business leaders. According to him Despite an encouraging increase in the ratio of women in management schools in recent years, they continue to be under-represented in the top echelons of business. A recent study shows that while more and more women have the qualifications to be a business leader, only 4% of fortunes 500 CEOs are women (Catalyst.org, 2012).
The interactive, inspiring atmosphere of Insight Dubai programme will be an ideal platform for building networks and developing mentorship.
