IMI Delhi holds global education summit

International Management Institute (IMI) organized an ITEC program-global education summit on managerial effectiveness and leadership on Jan 6-18, 2014 at IMI campus. This initiative was taken up by the Ministry of External Affairs in the form of ITEC (Indian Technical and Economic Cooperation program).

The focus of the program was on making the global leaders aware of the cosmopolitan culture and forge bonds in order to establish a calm and serene atmosphere. The objectives of the program were to understand leadership competences as well as business context, verifying the blocks hampering growth to become a leader, cultivate and develop self-management skills, creative thinking & strategic thinking capability & develop the ability to vision, manage and build the required work culture.

Some of the topics of discussion were leadership styles, emotional intelligence, managing self-stress management techniques, conflict management, developing negotiation skills, emerging business & Socio Economic Context: Managerial & leadership competition.

The event was graced by numerous government officials from around the world including Ms. Anu Peljo ,Advisor, Ministry of Finance, Estonia; Mr Andre Sholmes NDri Yao ,Ministry of Forest & Environment, Ivory Coast; Mrs. Pretty Pritika, Principal Auditor, Fiji National Provident Fund and others.

The two-week program was coordinated with Dr Asha Bhandarker, a distinguished professor in Organizational Behavior & Human Resources and Dr. Aman Srivastava, associate professor, finance at IMI.

On this occasion Dr. Pritam Singh, Director General, IMI, addressed everyone on the need of creating followers through leaders and connect with them by knowing their families and about their life. Dr. Asha Bhandarkar spoke about the requirement of efficient global leaders as well as their importance in amalgamating diverse people together. They talked about the powerful leaders like Martin Luther King, Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela, whose leadership qualities and traits inspire the business world.

International Management Institute (IMI), New Delhi was established in 1981 in collaboration with IMI Geneva (now IMD, Lausanne). It offers PGDM, Executive PGDM, FPM, PGDHRM, PGDM (WE),Ph.D and other courses.
