MBAUniverse.com has shared the key trends and expected cut offs in various B schools to explore admission opportunities. Know the important dos to leverage and utilize your score card to the optimum level in admission to B schools where CMAT scores are accepted. http://www.mbauniverse.com/article/id/7571/CMAT%20-Feb-2014-Results-declared ;
Over-all score; no percentile or sectional cut off
CMAT which has emerged as the second largest management entrance examination after CAT, doesnt have sectional cut offs like CAT. The score can be used across India in hundreds of the B schools accepting CMAT scores. There were 89 thousand test takers and all of them have been placed in the merit list by AICTE to find the appropriate B school of their choice.
There are many institutes which accept CAT and CMAT both. The problem with CAT score lies in its sectional cut off. A candidate may have high overall CAT percentile but low sectional percentile which may block the admission chances to good B school. But there is no such problem with CMAT as it has only over all score with pre declared place in merit list. You may use your CMAT score card parallel to score cards of other All India Entrance tests.
Unique feature with CMAT is that your raw score will be considered for the admission. In case any B school or state Government controlled university has the system of converting raw score to percentile, they will be at par with other All India tests like CAT/XAT.
Find your place
Go through the CMAT Feb 2014 Merit List and find out whats your standing. If you go for close observation, you will find that the CMAT scores have a declining trend which may be due to its increasing level of difficulty. Top ten candidates in CMAT are in the range of 317 to 290. If you have a good place in the list, you will stand a very good chance in comparison to other exams. For example a CAT or XAT 90+ percentile does not reflect true score. The raw marks might have been very low but CMAT Feb 2014 1st rank holder at 317 out of 400 becomes 100 percentiler when the score of CAT/XAT/CMAT are compared. On the top of it the second rank holder in CMAT Feb 2014 stands at 303 and the 10th rank holder has 290 marks With this gap even the top 1000 could find a very good B school.
Candidates even before appearing in the test prepare a list of B schools in order of preference. At that time you are not aware what score you will be getting. Now you should revisit and practically revise the priority list of management institutes where your candidature could be considered.
Required documents
Hard copies of required documents should be kept ready for second stage of admission round. You will need the originals as well as copies of your marks sheets, certificates from 10th standard to the highest degree that you have mentioned in your form. Special or reserved category(DA/SC/ST) certificates; id proof; address proof; experience certificate, if you a working professional; certificates of extra curricular activities; Domicile proof; Date of Birth certificate and any other certificate and photographs required by the particular University or the institute during final admission round should be kept in a file so that you do not forget the same when you go to convert the call.
Prepare for GDPIWAT round
Almost all the B schools will make you go through the GDPIWAT round. If they have replaced or added one or two tests in this round, you are supposed to be well versed with them and should prepare well to get through. Please note higher is the ranking of the institute tougher will be process. The weightage awarded to this round is more than the written test. The real test will begin now. If you have registered with DTE Maharashtra you will have to go through the Centralised Admission Process for top rated B schools in the state like JBIMS, SIMSREE, K J Somaiya, PUMBA, IECMCRC.
B schools with open admissions
Now comes the most important part. You may have a good score, can go across India but if the admission process in the particular B school is over what can you do except to find out which B schools have their admission process still open.
