WOXSEN Hyderabad appoints former ISB Dean Dr MR Rao as Provost

Dr Mendu Rammohan Rao, former Dean, Indian School of Business (ISB) has been appointed Provost of Woxsen School of Business, Hyderabad. Dr Rao will take charge on July 1, 2014.

Dr Rao has also served as Director IIM Bangalore and has taught at University of Rochester, University of Tennesse, New York University prior to his assignment at ISB Hyderabad. Dr Rao has a PhD in Industrial Administration from the Graduate School of Industrial Administration, Carnegie Mellon University, in addition to Master of Science in Industrial Administration from Carnegie-Mellon University and Master of Engineering (Industrial) from Cornell University.An illustrious academic, renowned globally for his research and teaching capabilities, Dr. M R Rao has published over 85 scholarly articles in various professional journals. As Provost, Dr. M R Rao would provide strategic foresight to the Senior Leadership at Woxsen. In his message he states his vision Students who come to WOXSEN would be exposed to an ecosystem ensuring they remain at the forefront of business ownership and new business creation

Woxsen has also designated Commander (Retd) Shrikumar Sangiah as its first CEO. Comdr Shrikumar earlier was the head of Woxsens Trade Tower initiative. Now in addition to his earlier role he will have the responsibility of decision making in all Executive and Administrative matters. He in fact, would be representing the Founding Chairman Mr Praveen Pula in most of his strategic decision making at Woxsen.

Comdr Shrikumar is a Sloan Fellow from The London Business School and holds a Masters degree in Electronics & Telecommunication. At LBS Class of 2013, he was the Alumni Gift Scholar. He has the vast experience of leadership with Indian Navy and the Aerospace division at L&T. An avid skydiver, passionate mountaineer, he is fluent in Russian language.

Woxsen School of Business is the brainchild of UK-based education entrepreneur Praveen Pula who has promoted the B school with the target to groom the students to become entrepreneurs. Ernst & Young was appointed to prepare the curriculum and understand the demand for the management courses. Accordingly WOXSEN has two coveted full time one year management programmes -Post Graduate Programme in Entrepreneur Development (PGPED) and Post Graduate Programme in Entrepreneurial Management (PGPEM). Woxsen Business School campus is spread over 3 million square feet which houses academic blocks, a library, trade tower, accommodation for students, faculty and staff and recreation facilities.
