Placement season 2014 at IIM Trichy, one of the six new IIMs, was marked with grand success with 100% placement. 37% of the total job offers came from the BFSI and consulting sectors. The industry reinstated its faith in the institute as past recruiters along with new recruiters took part in the placement process 2014.
The unique feature in the process was the diversity of profiles offered to the students which gave them a good choice in terms of industry and the role. These included roles such as Vice President-Strategy, Executive Assistant to CEO, Planning and Strategy, Treasury Services, Corporate Banking, International Sales, Logistics Manager, Capital Markets Consulting as well as consulting in verticals such as Retail, Healthcare and Insurance.
Key Trends in placement 2014
IIM Trichy has a consistent record of excellent placement. The batch size of the two year post graduate programme in management at this highly ranked B school increased from 80 students in 2013 to 103 students in 2014, out of which 18 students did not participate in the placement 2014 to pursue other opportunities through off-campus processes and were offered roles in real estate consultancy, derivatives trading, Climate change and corporate sustainability services, E-commerce consulting, Energy consulting, Business development and analysis. Rest all the 85 students registered for final placements got suitable offers.

Rise in Number of recruiters
Number of recruiters at IIM Trichy rose from 59 in 2013 to 76 in placement 2014 making 86 offers to 80 students. The students also secured 17 Pre Placement Interviews and 2 Prep Placement Offers across verticals. Industry stalwarts like Aditya Birla Group LEAP, Mahindra GMC, Cognizant Business Consulting, Citibank, ICICI Bank, Dabur, Kellogg, HCL Technologies, Perfint Healthcare and knowledgeable consulting were among the prominent names to offer PPI’s to the students of IIM Trichy.
Average and highest compensation up
Beating the slowdown in placement offers, the placement season 2014 at IIM Trichy saw a rise in average salary from Rs.10.92 lakhs per annum in 2013 to Rs.11.78 lakhs per annum showing a rising trend in the job market. The highest compensation also increased from Rs.18.25 lakhs in 2013 to Rs.19.25 lakhs in 2014
BFSI and consulting: major recruiting sectors
Banking, Financial services and Insurance (BFSI) and consultancy emerged as the prominent recruiting sector in placement 2014 at IIM Trichy. While BFSI had the major chunk in placement 2014 with 20%, consulting was the next with 17%. Sector wise placement at IIM Trichy is as under
