Meet Other CMAT 2014 Exam Takers

Let us have a look at past CMAT registration trends

CMAT Feb 2014 emerged the second biggest MBA/PGDM entrance test after CAT in India in terms of number of registration and actual test takers.

More than 1 lakh registered for CMAT Feb 2014

CMAT Feb 2014 had more than 1 lakh of registered candidates. However a few of them didnt take CMAT. This trend is not unusual. According to Dr S S Mantha, AICTE Chairman CMAT Feb 2014 has received more than 1 lakh registrations for admissions in AICTE approved PGDM B Schools and state universities and the response for CMAT 2014 has indeed been fantastic.

Apart from this fact, there is difference of 10 to 15% between the number of registered candidates and the number of candidates who actually take the test. This fact is true about all the important PGDM/MBA entrance exams like CAT/XAT/IIFT/NMAT/IBSAT/CMAT. The number of registered candidates is always more than the number of actual test takers.

What causes dip in Registration for CMAT Sep test

CMAT is a biannual entrance test for management programmes. CMAT September is the first test for PGDM/MBA admission in next session with an opportunity to appear in second CMAT conducted in February, following September test.

Aspirants have the opportunity to take both the tests or one test as they prefer. Most of the CMAT aspirants prefer February CMAT (second CMAT) as the score validity for admission to PGDM/MBA of both the exams is same. Besides September is the registration and preparation time for other important MBA/PGDM entrance tests like CAT/XAT/NMAT/IIFT/IBSAT.

As against CMAT, these tests are conducted once in a year and their preparation pattern is slightly different. For example CAT doesnt focus on General Awareness and General Awareness in XAT is not considered in percentile calculation. Sectional formation is also different in each test.

With all these key factors, more aspirants find it better to go for CMAT February test instead of registering for CMAT September.
