Quant and DI

Quantitative Techniques and Data Interpretation section had the questions on less prominent topics. Percentage, ratios, Geometry, Algebra figured in the test. Aspirants usually keep these sections as second tier ones and devote more of their learning and practicing on other sections. Although Quant was not tough but it became a little more time consuming for most of the aspirants. Dependence on Permutation-combination, probability, was throwing the candidates out of focus. Data interpretation questions were a little lengthy and required better reading of the problem and understanding the same to answer the set of questions based on data. Candidates with core technical background and expert in mathematics could do better while relatively the aspirants with good understanding and systematic approach to solve geometrical problems and good at algebra, not having core knowledge of more intricate mathematical concepts couldnt do so well.

The candidates coming from commerce, arts, humanities, biological background, where the representation of female candidates is also more than the Engineering and other related technical streams faced a bit more problem in this section. Overall the section was doable with a mix or moderate and difficult questions.

The important tip for the remaining 3 days is to devote a little more time in practicing the forgotten topics. Those who wish to crack Quant in forthcoming sessions, must practice more

Logical reasoning

The 25 questions in this section had more questions on arrangements, puzzles, statements assumptions, analogy, syllogisms, conclusions. While the overall section was not so difficult a few questions were tricky enough and consumed more time than expected. Nevertheless, aspirants were able to crack 20-22 questions managing the time well in this section.

General Awareness

MBAUniverse.com has already shared with the CMAT aspirants to stop learning current affairs that happened a fortnight ahead of the CMAT since the test paper is prepared prior to that. However the need is to continue revising whatever you have learnt .

Most of the questions in this section were focused on current affairs, sports, economy and conventional general knowledge. Questions on International events, appointments, books and authors were also present. More questions were based on the happenings in the year 2013 and 2014 as well as forthcoming events. An attempt of 20 to 22 questions in this section could be rated as good to be placed in high merit.
