Good news for the CAT 2014 test takers comes from IIM Ahmedabad that has proposed many changes and innovations in its PGP, PGP-FABM, and PGPX programs effective from academic session 2015-16 for the batch 2015-17. The top rated IIM A proposes to bring changes in the PGP and the PGP-FABM curricula; innovations in the PGP admissions and financial aid policies and revision in fees for these programs.
In 2013 IIM Ahmedabad conducted reviews of its PGP and PGP-ABM programs as well as of its admissions process. The review process included detailed interviews with alumni, corporates, IIMA faculty, faculty of other institutions, students, and other stakeholders. Based on the recommendations of these reviews, the Institute has introduced several innovations in its flagship PGP and PGP-FABM programs, effective the incoming batch of PGP 2015-17.
New courses introduced at IIM A
IIM Ahmedabad has introduced following new courses in PGP program:
The B schools has introduced three new core courses: Government Systems & Processes, Understanding Global Organisational Context, and Having an Entrepreneurial Mind-set.
The concept of flexi-core courses to provide the opportunity for additional focused learning over and above the core courses has also been introduced at IIM Ahmedabad. Initially, flexi-core courses will be offered in Human Resources, Information Systems, and Operations Management.
Another prominent change is the introduction of the course titled Experiencing Integration towards the end of the program to integrate learning across management disciplines.
Flexibility and Rationalization of programmes
IIM A proposes to provide the flexibility for students to specialize in specific domains (such as Marketing, Finance, and HR) on their meeting specified credit requirements in those domains.
For the first year students the B school has proposed the rationalization of courses to reduce sessions load in the first year, while maintaining academic rigor and innovative offerings.

To improve understanding of the rural economy, two new courses Agricultural Systems and Rural, Social, and Institutional Environment are being introduced in the first year curriculum. In the second year, new elective courses on Agribusiness Project Management, Agribusiness Entrepreneurship, Agribusiness Leadership, Food Supply Chain Management, Food Retailing, and others, willbe offered.
