Jaipuria Institute of Management, Noida organised its 4th Jaipuria Annual Management Conference (JAMC-2014) on the theme “Employee Engagement: Harnessing Human Capital” on December 13, 2014 at India Habitat Centre, New Delhi.

Dr. A. K. Balyan, MD & CEO, Petronet LNG Ltd. was the Chief Guest with Mr. Vipin Sondhi, MD & CEO, JCB India as the Guest of Honour on the occasion.

Mr. S. Y. Siddqui, Chief Mentor, Maruti Suzuki India Ltd., Mr. Kamal Singh, Director General, NHRD and Mr. G. P. Rao, Management Advisor were special guests. The president PHDCCI & Chairman, Jaipuria Institute of Management Mr. Sharad Jaipuria and its Vice Chairman Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria, Director Dr. Rajiv R. Thakur were also other dignitaries present in the flagship event along with a gamut of learned speakers from government, industry and academia graced the occasion.

The inaugural session of the conference began with the auspicious lamp lightening by the guests. Dr. Rajiv R. Thakur, Director of the B school introduced the theme of the conference. Mr. Sharad Jaipuria in his welcome address emphasised upon the significance of employee engagement and shared harnessing human capital is very important for reaping the benefits of competitive advantage, productivity and growth for all the stakeholders in the organization.

The Chief Guest Dr. A.K Balyan in his inaugural address enthralled the audience by his pearls of wisdom. He emphasised that leadership driven employee engagement endeavours are a combination of hardware and software where policies and procedures are the hardware and execution and people are software. He vouched for emotional connect and commitment of employees toward organization and showed the immense possibility of engagement effects on the bottom line of the business. He further emphasised that without emotional bonding and psychological commitment of employees the seeds of employee engagement will not yield any fruit.  

Mr. G.P Rao while presenting the conference overview charged up the gathering with his witty and eloquent deliberation on the need of the employee engagement and introduced the structure of the conference and distinguished speakers in the inaugural session.

Mr. Kamal Singh shared his thoughts on some very relevant data on employee engagement, which was backed by research and rating agencies of the likes of Dale Carnege, NHRDN and Tower Perrins.

The Guest of Honour Mr. Vipin Sondhi in his address ignited the young minds of future by sharing short stories which confirmed the importance and need of employee engagement for the success of any organization and its people. He advised engagement initiatives are inclusive in nature and the drivers should ensure that everyone is a part of engagement, be it leader, follower, weak and strong players in the process. The key to success of employee engagement lies in the hands of leadership.

Mr. Shreevats Jaipuria delivered the Vote of Thanks. He appreciated the engaging deliberations of all the guests and opined that employee engagement is a value chain and all the stakeholders should chip in to complete this important chain in organization.

There were 2 panel discussions on the occasion the first one was on Leadership Values & Brand Alignment. The session was chaired by Ms. Ester Martinez, Founder & Editor-in-chief, People Matters and the eminent panellists were Mr. Pradyumna Pandey, Chief GM-HR, JK Tyre, Mr. Deepak Dobriyal, VP-HR, Birlasoft, Ms. Usha Subramanian-VP, Technical and Campus- Mphasis and Mr. Rajiv Kapoor, CPO-Fortis Healthcare.

The second panel session on Employee Engagement Strategies & Best Practices  was led by Ms. Shampi Venkatesh, CPO-NIIT Ltd. and the eminent panellists were Mr. Sushil Baveja, President-HR, DSCL Ltd. , Ms. Ashu Sawhney, VP-HR, DCB Bank and Mr. Abhay Kapoor, AVP-HR & Corporate ER, Escorts Ltd.

The conference concluded with the conference summary by Prof. Abdul Qadir, Conference Coordinator and vote of thanks by Mr. R.K. Rishiraj, Head Corporate Relations & Placement, Jaipuria Institute of Management.
